Average market sales

Average market sales is an analytics tool for comparing your site's key sales metrics with the average performance of your closest competitors.

Available data

Comparison widgets available on the dashboard include the following metrics and dimensions:

Metrics

  • Sessions with product views: Compares the total number of sessions with product views on your site with the median value of your closest competitors over the same period.

  • Conversion to product views: Compares the average share of sessions with product views in the total session count on your site with the median value of your closest competitors over the same period.

  • Sessions with adds to cart: Compares the total number of sessions when products were added to the shopping cart on your site with the median value of your closest competitors over the same period.

  • Cart conversion: Compares the average share of sessions when products were added to the shopping cart in the total session count on your site with the median value of your closest competitors over the same period.

  • Sessions with purchases: Compares the total number of sessions with purchases on your site with the median value of your closest competitors over the same period.

  • Conversion to purchase: Compares the average share of sessions with purchases in the total session count on your site with the median value of your closest competitors over the same period.

Dimensions

  • Dimension by traffic source type. Compare your sales metrics with your closest competitors across different traffic source types. The system widgets display the top 5 traffic sources, but you can customize this list manually.

  • Dimension by device type. Compare your sales metrics with your closest competitors across different device types.

Working with the dashboard

To use the dashboard:

  1. Go to the Dashboards section in the side menu on the left.
  2. Open the Market average sales metrics dashboard.

The dashboard features a set of ready-made special comparison widgets.

You can update the dashboard by adding any widgets and groups of widgets to those already installed, choosing which widgets you want to keep as system ones, and changing the format of system widgets.

Reasons why this tool may be unavailable

The “Get access to market reports” option was disabled

The option was disabled when last week’s data was processed. Check the option’s status and wait for the data to update. The data is updated weekly on Tuesdays.

Yandex Metrica algorithm was enable to reliably link the tag to the domain

Possible reasons:
  • The tag is installed on different sites.
  • Multiple different tags are installed on one domain, and each of them tracks only part of the data.
    For accurate selection of your closest competitors, ensure that all pages of a single domain use one tag, and wait for the data to update.

Not enough data

For Yandex Metrica to identify the closest competitors, your site needs to have at least 10 sessions in the last week.

Your site must have e-commerce tracking set up to send the detail, add, and purchase events. For instructions on how to set up data transferring, see Help.

Our system also needs to receive a sufficient number of detail, add, and purchase events. Each event has a minimum required share in total non-robot sessions per week:

  • 0.2% for the Product view (detail) events.

  • 0.1% for the Adding an item to the basket (add) events.

  • 0.025% for the Purchase (purchase) events.

To calculate average metrics for the closest competitor group, there must be a sufficient number of sites sending enough e-commerce events.

Few closest competitors

Yandex Metrica couldn't find enough closest competitors for your site. Provide a list of your closest competitors to help fine-tune the algorithm on accurate data. In the Domans field, specify the domains of your closest competitors.

Submit a list

The site is new

If your site is less than six months old, the algorithm can't effectively identify your closest competitors.

Site from a rare industry

Or a large site. There aren't enough closest competitors to build reports.
