Search query statistics from browsers with third-party cookies restrictions
Use of the ysclid parameter
Yandex Metrica collects and analyzes statistics on search queries that brought users to your site from search results. These data are presented in such reports as Search queries and Search engines.
In some cases, search query statistics may not be fully displayed. In particular, information on search queries may be partially missing if users have been coming to your site from search results in browsers with third-party cookies restrictions, such as Safari or Mozilla Firefox.
To more accurately determine search queries while maintaining user privacy requirements, Yandex adds a special ysclid parameter to the link when a user comes to the site from Yandex search results.
Example: https://example.com/?ysclid=ksil7dwgjm.
This parameter is added to selected page URLs in search results in browsers that do not support third-party cookies.
The ysclid parameter is not displayed in Yandex Metrica reports but may be visible when using third-party tools, e.g., for site optimization. You may notice the appearance of search query data in Yandex Metrica reports.
If the ysclid parameter appears in links in the web analytics systems you use, add it to exceptions.
