Alternative CDN

This option allows you to correctly count sessions from regions that have restricted access to Yandex Metrica. It might take longer to load the tag code when using this option. Even with the option enabled, the code snippet can send a preliminary request to mc.yandex.ru to save traffic.
Asynchronous code

The tag code does not block pages and does not affect page loading speed. Displayed if the Outdated tag code option is enabled.
Attribution (attribution model)

You can use this method to get insights into how different traffic sources contribute towards a conversion and future site visits.
Auctions

Total number of auctions.

Б

Benchmarks

В

Currency

Currency according to ISO 4217, which is used by default to display revenue. For example, revenue by goal, ad spending, or in E-commerce data.
Widget

A graphic module that summarizes statistics about the website and its users. Widgets are displayed in the Dashboards section of Yandex Metrica.
Funnel

This report shows how users complete a specified set of steps over a certain period.
Session (visit)

The sequence of actions (activity) performed by a single user on the site (on a single tag). What is considered as user activity: pageviews, clicks on outbound links, file downloads, and triggers of the functions reachGoal, hit, params, extLink, file, notBounce.

The session ends when there is no activity for a certain amount of time. By default, this is 30 minutes. You can set a different amount of time using the session timeout option.

For example, the timeout is 30 minutes. A user opens the website and views several pages: the session is registered. Then the user leaves the browser tab open and walks away. Returning 35 minutes later (the timeout period has expired), the user goes to another page on the site. This pageview is considered a new session.

The first click-through from advertising systems (e.g., Yandex Direct) is always a separate session. While it lasts, repeated click-throughs from the ad are not considered new sessions.

Outbound click

When a user exits your site by clicking an outbound link to any other site.
Outbound link
A link on your site that leads to another (external) website.
Internal traffic
A click that a user made on a page on your website that led to another site page. The website in question is located at the URL specified in your tag settings.
Time on site

The time difference between the first and last event in the session. Events are various actions, such as views, outbound clicks, file downloads, and goal completion, including calling functions like extLink, file, reachGoal.
Won auctions

Number of auctions won by the bidder.

Г

Page depth

The number of pageviews on the site within a single session.
Dimension

Attribute that represents user actions registered by the tag (for example, session, pageview, referral, file download, etc.). Data sent in a report is grouped by attribute.

Д

Dashboards

This section offers a brief overview of various aspects of your site performance. Yandex Metrica offers three standard dashboards: Summary, which provides general site information, Traffic effectiveness, and Ecommerce.
Auction win rate

The ratio of auctions won by the bidder to the total number of auctions they participated in. Measured in percentage.
Bid rate

The ratio of auctions the bidder participated in to the total number of offers. Measured in percentage.

Revenue

The revenue from ad placements on the site. Measured in the selected currency, converted at the auction day’s exchange rate.

З

Page titles

This report shows traffic information for site pages (specifying their titles) by number of views and users. The titles are taken from the title element.
Page loading

The process of displaying webpage contents. There are several stages of loading:

  • Processing DNS requests.
  • Processing redirects.
  • Connecting to the server.
  • Getting the server response.
  • Processing HTML.

Detailed information about page loading is available in the Page load time report.

Uploading the file

When the user begins downloading a file from the site.

И

JavaScript goal ID

Creating a goal includes specifying its identifier. When a goal is completed, the reachGoal method is called, and the specified ID is passed to it.

  • Basic: Clicking on the informer takes you to Yandex Metrica.
  • Advanced: Clicking on the informer shows a widget with site statistics for the week.
Traffic source

How users reach your website: from an ad, search results, social media, or other source. For detailed information about the traffic source, go to Traffic source (detailed). For example: Traffic sourceSearch engine traffic. Traffic source (detailed)Yandex.

К

М

Tag

The From, UTM, or Openstat tag is a URL parameter that Yandex Metrica analyzes with a special algorithm. It's not displayed in the URL parameters report. Instead, it’s included in special reports. This lets you create more intuitive and thorough analytic segments.

Н

Tag number

A unique number that identifies the data store associated with the tag. It is assigned by the system automatically when the tag is created, and can’t be changed. It is specified during initialization of the tag on a page.

О

Review

Add this dashboard to the side menu for quick access.
Bounce

A session is considered a bounce if it meets all of the following criteria at once:

  • No more than one pageview was registered during the session.
  • The session length was less than the length set for bounce tracking (by default, 15 seconds).
  • A "non-bounce" event was not registered.
Learn more

For calculating a session’s length, user activity is considered: pageviews, outbound clicks, file downloads, and triggers of the functions hit, params, extLink, file, notBounce.

The "non-bounce" service event is generated in the browser when a period of time set for bounce calculation passes after the session start. The registered event time might differ from the actual time due to discrepancies in the time on the server and on the client, or due to latency in sending the event. As a result, a non-bounce session might be registered that is shorter than 15 seconds (or whatever time you set).

Hash tracking in the address bar

This option is applied for AJAX sites and allows correct calculation of the number of pageviews on pages that are updated without being refreshed.

П

Setup assistant

Your guide to settings. It helps you quickly identify the most relevant Yandex Metrica reports for your business needs and how to configure them to receive the right data. Learn more about the setup assistant.

Users are tracked via anonymous browser IDs that are saved as cookies. A user who returns to your site after they delete their cookies will be considered new.

Cross-device user

A user that Yandex Metrica identifies based on data about different browsers used by the same person. This data is combined using Crypta technology.
Session duration

The time between the first and last event during a user session on the site. The first event is always the loading of the tag on the page. The last event can be a pageview, an external link click, a file download, a conversion, a non-bounce event, or a parameter submission.
View

Loading one of a site’s pages when a user navigates to it. Pageviews also include:

  • Website pages load (including page refreshes).
  • Updating AJAX sites, which is detected by the hash parameter changing in the address bar (#fragment).
  • Data is sent using the hit method.
Timeout rate

The share of auctions that didn't receive any bids and end early due to a long wait, relative to the total number of auctions.
Direct traffic (hit)
Incoming traffic from entering the URL in the address bar, clicking saved links, and the like. Other kinds of incoming traffic may also fall under direct traffic if Yandex Metrica couldn't recognize the source by referrer or tag.

P

Robot

Programs that crawl the site for a specific purpose. For example, for indexing a site or checking how it works. Some robots present themselves: pass their name in the User agent. Others disguise themselves as real users. Yandex Metrica detects sessions of such robots by their behavior and other technical characteristics. Such robots are called behavioral robots. Learn more
