Panoramas

Street panoramas let you travel virtually throughout several hundred cities:

  • View the sights (or, for example, the neighborhood around a potential new home.
  • Navigate an unfamiliar area.
  • View interchanges and road signs.
  • Show your friends an interesting-looking place, print a photo of it, etc.

To enable “Street panoramas”, click Street panoramas on the map.

A network of blue lines appears on the map, indicating where street panoramas can be viewed:

Select a place along one of the blue lines and click on it.

Or choose a place on the map and click View panorama in the place card that appears:

Under the street panorama, you'll see a rectangular map of the surrounding area. The map displays the network of streets that include panoramas. The current panorama location is circled and your viewing direction is indicated (see the red arrow in the drawing).

Panoramas taken from the air are marked with a balloon (see the green arrow in the drawing).

You can zoom in on the map. by clicking . To zoom out again, click .

In Street panoramas mode, you can:

  1. Go in the right direction.

    To move in street panorama, click on a white arrow, which indicates a direction, or a white oval, which marks an area you can view.

  2. Change the scale of a photo.

    To zoom in, roll the mouse wheel away from you (may vary depending on mouse model) or click .

    To zoom out, roll the mouse wheel towards you or click .

  3. Rotate the street panorama. You can rotate the street panorama to “see the sides” of the photo:

    • Drag the street panorama image using your mouse.
    • Click on the appropriate arrow (left, right, up, or down).
  4. Jump to a new location in the area surrounding your current point.

    Just move your cursor over to the thumbnail map in the lower right corner of the screen and click on a location on one of the blue lines. The screen will display the street panorama for the point you select.

  5. See the full address for the building shown on the street panorama. Just hold the cursor over the address icon (it will change colors). Then click on it.

  6. Share a street panorama.

To exit Street Panoramas, click Close in the upper right corner of the page.
