3. Global mapping rules
Creating Yandex.Maps is a big responsibility: the roads you draw will be used to plot routes; organizations you add will end up in search results; and buildings, structures, and other map items will serve as landmarks in a particular area.
That's why YME authors need to follow certain rules:
Rules that apply to all users and all YME items (for example, rules about how to select items for mapping):
Rules for working with items of specific categories (for example, rules for drawing building outlines or naming motorways).
These rules may apply to all items regardless of the country, or they may differ depending on the country.
The rules common to all countries are described in this section (3. Global mapping rules):
- 3.2. Administrative divisions
- 3.3. Roads
- 3.4. Buildings
- 3.5. Addresses
- 3.6. Locations
- 3.7. Territories
- 3.8. Road infrastructure
- 3.9. Vegetation
- 3.10. Hydrography
- 3.11. Terrain
- 3.12. Transport: railways
- 3.13. Transport: rapid
- 3.14. Transport: ground
- 3.15. Transport: air
- 3.16. Transport: water.
- 3.17. Fences
The rules that differ depending on the country are given in the subsections of Section 4. Rules for regional mapping and grouped by country:
The rules are regularly updated and clarified. You can learn about changes to the rules in the YME Chat and the list of changes.
