# 3.5. Addresses

<q>Addresses</q> (or <q>Address points</q>) are Places in the Yandex Map Editor. Each address point contains information about an item's address. This information is specified via the following address point attributes:

- Building or property number
- A pointer that specifies a street, administrative division, or any other item that has a linked mailing address
- Zip code

{% note info %}

Apartment details in the address are added to the building entrance attributes (for more information, see [3.4.3.4.3. Apartment numbers](https://yandex.com/support/mapeditor/en/cat_bld_rul3.md#3.4.3.4_entrance_4)

{% endnote %}

The address point is placed inside an item's polygon (building or area), so that the mailing address is linked to that item.

For more information, see sections:

- [2.5.1. Places: drawing techniques](https://yandex.com/support/mapeditor/en/point.md#rules_point)
- [3.5.1. Rules for drawing addresses](https://yandex.com/support/mapeditor/en/cat_addr_rul1.md)
- [3.5.2. The rules of attribution of addresses](https://yandex.com/support/mapeditor/en/cat_addr_rul2.md#cat_addr_rul2)

To see address points on the map, enable their display (see Section [2.2.5.2. Choice of layer](https://yandex.com/support/mapeditor/en/map-control_2.2.5.md#layers_2.2.5.2)).

Moreover, you can highlight an item to see its associated address points on the map, even if they are not currently displayed (be it a road, street, an administrative division, or a traffic installation).

For example:

- If you highlight a **Road**, you will see its attribute panel and all of the item's associated address points will pop up on the map.

- If you select an **Administrative division** (for example, _city of Zelenograd_), you will see its attribute panel and all of the item's associated address points will pop up on the map:

    ![](_assets/adr_18.png)

- If you select a **Road infrastructure** item (for example, _Arbat Square_), you will see its attribute panel and all of the item's associated address points will pop up on the map:
