Whitelist and blacklist
Blacklist
To block unwanted messages, add the address to the blacklist.
- In the upper-right corner, click.
- Select Message filters.
- In the Blacklist section on the left, enter the address and click Add.
Blacklist restrictions:
- You can add only a full email address to the blacklist, such as “ads-spam@example.com”. Partial addresses, such as “*spam@example.com” or “@example.com”, will not be blacklisted. You can't add every address from a domain to the blacklist, but you can configure a mail filter that deletes email with this domain in the From field.
- After adding an address to the blacklist, you'll no longer receive messages from the unwanted sender. Old messages won't be deleted and will remain in your mailbox.
- Forwarded messages or messages imported from your other mailbox are not blacklisted. To block these types of messages, go to the mailbox that you want to send or collect messages from, and configure the blacklist there.
- You can blacklist a maximum of 1000 addresses. If you want to free up some space to blacklist new addresses, you will have to remove some addresses from the blacklist first.
To remove an address from the blacklist, select it and click delete from list.
Whitelist
If you want to make sure messages from a particular sender never end up in Spam, whitelist their email address:
- In the upper-right corner, click.
- Select Message filters.
- In the Whitelist section on the left, enter the address and click Add.
Whitelist restrictions:
- You can add only a full email address to the whitelist, such as “expert.news@example.com”. Partial addresses, such as “*news@example.com” or “@example.com”, will not be whitelisted. This means that you cannot whitelist all addresses from a particular domain.
- After adding an address to the whitelist, new messages from the important senders will come to your Inbox. However, older messages sent from this address will not be restored or moved to your Inbox from other folders.
- Forwarded messages or messages imported from another mailbox are not whitelisted. To make sure these messages are sent directly to your Inbox, log into the mailbox you import or forward the emails from and whitelist the address you need.
- You can whitelist a maximum of 1000 addresses. If you want to free up some space to whitelist new addresses, you will have to remove some addresses from the whitelist first.
To remove an address from the whitelist, select it and click delete from list.
Emails from the blacklist still end up in my mailbox
You might have received the email before adding the sender's address to the blacklist. Try to remember when you added the email address to the blacklist and compare this date with the date you received the email.
If these recommendations didn't help and the blacklist doesn't work, contact Yandex Mail support using the form at the bottom of the page. Specify the blacklisted email address that you are receiving messages from and attach a file with the properties of the latest email from that sender.
Emails from addresses on my whitelist end up in “Spam”
Emails may end up in Spam if you use email clients to manage your Yandex Mail (such as Microsoft Outlook, The Bat!, or Thunderbird for desktop, or Mail.Ru, Gmail, or Mailbox for smartphone or tablet). Some email clients have built-in anti-spam filters that may move emails to the Spam folder. Disable the spam check in your email client's settings.
If the program has no spam filter, then change the password to your Yandex mailbox. Changing your password may help if you've set up the program earlier and don't currently use it, but it's still running and continues to move emails to Spam.
If you don't use a mail client, make sure that all related options are disabled on the Email clients page.
If our recommendations don't help, please contact support using the form below. Attach the properties of the email that ended up in your Spam folder by mistake to your request.
I can't add a Cyrillic address to the list
If you want to whitelist or blacklist an address that contains Cyrillic letters, add it as Punycode (a special markup for Cyrillic addresses). You can convert an address to Punycode using online converters.
