Labels will help you arrange and quickly find the emails you want. Each email can be assigned any number of labels.

Four standard labels already exist by default: Flagged, Unread, With attachments and Awaiting reply (displayed if reminder about resending is enabled). A list of these labels is displays under the list of folders.

Important emails are highlighted red in the email list:

  1. Apply a label
  2. Remove label
  3. Edit labels
  4. Sort messages by label
  5. I can't label an email

Apply a label

  1. Select the messages you want want to restore.
  2. Click Label in the upper menu, or select Label as → New label from the context menu.
  3. Enter the name of the label (a maximum of 15 characters) and click on it to apply the changes. If you want to set the color for the new label right away, choose New label in the list of labels.

If you have already created some labels, you can simply drag emails to the required label in the list on the left or drag the label from the list to the relevant email.

To flag a message, click the icon to the left of the sender's portrait.

Remove label

There are a few ways to remove a label:

In an opened email
Click the "x" on the label:
In the list of messages
  1. Select emails.
  2. Click Label in the upper menu, or select Label as in the context menu.
  3. In the Delete label section, select the name of the relevant label and click on it to apply the changes.

Edit labels

You can manage labels in the menu Settings → Folders and labels:

  • Create new labels.
  • Change and delete labels.
  • Sort labels by the number of emails or in alphabetic order.
  • Create filters for automatic sorting of emails.
Attention. The standard labels do not change and cannot be deleted.

Sort messages by label

You can sort email by standard and custom labels.

You can click one of the buttons under the list of folders on the left:
  • — To view all flagged messages
  • — To view all unread messages
  • — To view all messages with attachments
  • — To view all messages waiting for a response (appears if you set a response reminder)
There are several ways you can group messages with a custom label:
  • Find an email message with the label from the list and click the label.
  • On the left, click the label under the standard labels switch.

I can't label an email

Reload the page by pressing the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+F5. Then clear the browser cache and set up your cookie parameters before trying again.

Temporarily disable all plug-ins and extensions in the browser. Often they are the cause of Yandex.Mail errors. If ad blockers or antivirus extensions are causing problems with Yandex.Mail, then you can add the Mail page to the list of exceptions for that particular extension.
