Importing mail from other mailboxes

You can re-direct emails from your other mail boxes to your Yandex mailbox.

Note. Up to 10 importers can be created in one mailbox.

Create a mail fetcher

  1. Go to the menu Settings Import mail from the other mailboxes.
  2. In the Fetch mail from the mailbox block, provide the username and password which you use for logging in to the other mailbox. Then click on the button Enable mail fetcher.
  3. Set the rules for processing collected emails in the page that opens.

If it is not possible to automatically setup the mail fetcher connection with the server:

    1. Click Server connection setting.
    2. Enter the name of the mail server and port number manually. You can get the values of these parameters from the mail support service where your mailbox is located.

The first email import occurs within several minutes after you have configured the mail fetcher. The time to access the other mail server for the periodic collection of emails can take from 10 minutes up to several hours. It depends on the operating specifics of the server the mail is collected from. It is impossible to set or configure this parameter.

  1. Go to the menu Settings Import mail from the other mailboxes.
  2. Click on the the name of the mail fetcher in the list of connected mailboxes.
  3. Follow the link Configure. Here you can configure the rules for processing collected emails and the parameters of the mail fetcher-to-server connection.

If the mail fetcher is not needed any more, click on the name of the mail fetcher, and then on Delete.

Importer problems

Reasons for mail fetcher errors:

A wrong password is entered in the importer settings.

If you configured the mail forwarding rule, disable the mail fetcher after all old emails have been forwarded. Otherwise, the emails will arrive in the new mailbox in duplicate. To fix the problem:

  1. Go to mail collection settings.
  2. Click on the name of the mail fetcher in the list of connected mailboxes and then click Configure.
  3. Click Server connection setting .
  4. Enter a new password in Connection parameters.
  5. Click on Save changes.
Access over the appropriate protocol has not been enabled.

Make sure that POP3 or IMAP access is enabled in the settings of the mailbox the emails are collected from.

Note. Yahoo mail can only forward emails by IMAP.

To collect emails from Gmail:

  1. Go to Gmail settings and click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
  2. In POP Download (Status) click Enable POP for all emails (even mail that's already been downloaded).
  3. In the IMAP Access (Status) click Enable IMAP.
  4. Click on Save changes.

If your mail service is not available in the list, contact the support service for information.

After configuring the mail fetcher, emails are not collected

If after configuring the mail fetcher, emails do not appear in the mailbox immediately, just wait, because it can take a few minutes for email import to start.

The settings of the other mailbox do not allow for downloading emails from some folders.

If several hours have passed since you configured the mail fetcher, but there are still no emails:

  1. Make sure that the settings of the mailbox you want to collect emails from allow POP3 or IMAP access to all necessary folders.
  2. Also check if the mailbox settings allow emails to be downloaded from specific folders or emails for a specific period of time.

The Outlook.com mail service (hotmail.com, live.com) only allows emails to be forwarded from the Inbox folder. If you have stored emails in a different folder, move them to the Inbox folder .

There was a server failure on the other mail service

The mail fetcher error may be caused by problems with the server of the mail service of the mailbox where emails are collected from.

Before configuring email forwarding, disable the mail fetcher, otherwise, the emails will arrive in duplicate.
