Sender information

Changing names

You can change the name that is displayed in the From field next to your address. Go to Settings → Personal information, signature, picture, enter a new value in the Your name section, and save changes.

Note. Only your displayed name will change. Your Yandex username will remain the same.

Signature

Create a signature

You can create one or more signatures that will be automatically inserted in the message when it is created, replied, or forwarded. To do this, open the menu Settings → Personal data, signature, picture and enter the signature text in the Your signatures section. You can also format your signature text using the toolbar located above the text box.

You can add an image to your signature in one of the following ways:

Embed a URL
Click above the text box and enter a direct link to the image.
Upload an image from your computer
Drag an image from a folder on your computer into the signature box.
Restriction. The picture in your signature will only be displayed when formatting is enabled for the email.

When the signature is ready, click Add signature.

Edit signature

  1. Move your cursor over the upper right corner of your signature.
  2. Click on the icon that appears.

Customize signature

You can set where to place your signature in responses or designate it for a particular address or language of the text. If you have several signatures, you can select one on the page where you compose emails.

Assign to specific email address

To use a signature when sending messages from a specific mail alias, select the option Link to address and choose the email address.

Placement in responses

By default, the signature is placed at the end of the message or conversation. If you would like to place it immediately after your reply, choose the option under Place signature.

Note. This option can be applied across the board to all the signatures you have created.
Designate signature by email language

The system detects the language of the signatures that have been added. For example, if you are responding to an email in Turkish, your Turkish signature can be added automatically. To use this signature in replies to messages in another language, assign it to that language:

  1. Move your cursor over the upper right corner of your signature.
  2. Click on the icon that appears.
  3. Select the language needed from the list.

    .

  4. Click Save.

The signature is not displayed

If you created a signature, but it is not displayed correctly when writing an email (the signature format or hyperlinks are incorrect or pictures are not displayed), make sure that email formatting is enabled:

  1. Before typing the text of your message, click Add formatting (to the right of the input box).
  2. Refresh the page (press F5).

If you notice that the signature does not display after you've written the message, add it manually.

Additional addresses

You can send messages from your main Yandex address, from aliases and from your addresses in other services.

  1. Mail aliases
  2. Mail addresses in other services

Mail aliases

When you sign up on Yandex, you receive a mailbox in your country's domain, such as alice.the.girl@yandex.ru, and additional addresses in national domains: ru (Russia), by (Belarus), kz (Kazakhstan), ua (Ukraine), and the com domain. These addresses are the aliases of your primary email address.

Aliases are required to maintain the uniqueness of your username. If you sign up on Yandex in Russia, another user in Kazakhstan, Belarus, or Ukraine will not be able to clone your mailbox with the same login.

Note. If you have created a mailbox with a login that contains dots, for example, alice.the.girl, an alias such as alice-the-girl will be created for it as well as domain aliases.

You can select which address to send messages from in Settings  → Personal data, signature, picture. This alias will be used by default for all messages.

You can also use your phone number as an alias.

Mail addresses in other services

If you want to send a message to a recipient from your email address on another service (for example, Gmail or Yahoo), add this address on the Email addresses page and confirm access to it. After confirmation, you will be able to choose both your Yandex address alias and your mailbox address on another service in theFrom field.

Attention. If you add a mailbox address on another mailbox service, configure message collection from that mailbox to Yandex mailbox. You won't be able to send messages from that mailbox without configuring its message fetcher.

Sender’s picture

You can load your picture in Mail, and your email recipients will see your picture next to the From field. To do this, open the menu Settings → Personal data, signature, picture and click the Change picture button in the My profile picture section. If you do not have a suitable image, you can take a picture using your webcam by clicking the appropriate button.

Attention. It can take several days to change the profile picture in the list of emails.

If you haven't uploaded a profile picture in Mail, your emails can show your avatar from a social network profile that supports the ability to search for images and user profiles by email address (such as Facebook).

To change the picture, remove the old image and upload a new one. A Delete link is available under the picture.

Note. The profile picture is only guaranteed to be displayed in Yandex.Mail. If your message recipient uses a different mail service, it may not support this feature and the recipient will not see your picture in the message header.

Problems with the profile picture

I have uploaded a picture, but it is not displayed

If the picture is not displayed on the Sender information page, you just need to wait a little. The system requires some time to load new information about the user. If the picture does not appear after a week, try clearing the browser cache.

A picture of somebody else from Odnoklassniki or Facebook is displayed

If a picture of somebody else is displayed instead of your picture, it is possible that someone has provided your email address as a contact in the social network settings, and our system has linked this account to your mail when collecting open data from social networks.

Contact the support service of this social network with a request to remove your email address from the profile of that person.

To contact the Odnoklassniki social network support service, follow the link http://www.odnoklassniki.ru/dk? st.cmd=helpContent , then click Contact support service at the bottom of the web page and fill in the form.

To contact Facebook support service, follow the link http://www.facebook.com/help/contact/?id=274459462613911 and fill in the form.

If the wrong picture is still there after a week, contact Yandex.Mail Support using the form at the bottom of the page.

A picture from Odnoklassniki is displayed although I have deleted/closed the page

Sometimes the social network Odnoklassniki gives search engines data on profiles that were closed or deleted.

To delete this picture from your mailbox, contact Yandex.Mail Support through the feedback form at the bottom of the page.

I can't set my profile picture in Yandex.Mail for Domain

The standard methods won't work to set a picture for your Yandex.Mail for Domain, but you can set it on your Passport page.

Social network profiles of the sender

If you have social network profiles, the recipients of your emails will see them under the From field.

Note. Social network profile images are only supported by Yandex.Mail. If your message recipient uses a different mail service, they won't see your profile in the message header.

How can I delete links to my profiles in social networks?

Mail uses information from open sources to search for profiles, for example, Facebook, LinkedIn, “Moy Krug”, “Odnoklassniki”, “Moy Mir” social services and other sites that support the ability to search images and user profiles with email addresses.

If you want to restrict searches that use your profile information, you can change settings on the social sites or Yandex, and links to the profiles will cease to appear within seven days.

Facebook

Go to Privacy in account settings. Select Do you want other search engines to link to your timeline? and click Edit. Uncheck Do you want other search engines to link to your timeline? and click Confirm.

Odnoklassniki

Go to the Privacy page in your account settings. In the Open page for search engines and mail services section, select No and save your changes.

Moy Krug

Go to Privacy in account settings. In the Show my profile section, select only Moy Krug users and save your changes.

Yandex settings

You can prevent Yandex.Mail from displaying profiles that have been found. Go to the social.yandex.com page from your Yandex account. If you would like to prevent other mail services from searching your profile using the linked email address, use your social network profile for authorization.

If your profile in a social network is not linked to your Yandex account yet, click the icon of that social network, enter your username, and allow “Yandex.Passport” to access the profile. The action confirms that you are the profile owner.

If your social network profile is already linked to your Yandex account, disable the Mail option in the Privacy settings section.

Attention. The profile from the social.yandex.com list cannot be deleted after saving the configuration because the settings will be canceled.
