Power saving mode

When you actively use your device, its battery runs out quickly. The battery capacity also decreases with time: the longer you've been using your device, the faster its battery drains. Power saving mode saves battery life so that you can use your device for longer before charging it.

Note

Power saving mode is available only on Android devices.

How power saving mode works

In this mode, the Yandex app:

  • Reduces background tab activity.
  • Disables reader mode.
  • Uses hardware video codecs instead of VP9 and VP8.
  • Turns off the parallax background when opening a new tab.
  • Disables smooth animation of elements on the page.
  • Disables interface animation.
  • Takes other actions to optimize power consumption.
