Playing videos in the app

The Yandex app can open video files with the following extensions: MP4, WEBM, OGV, X-M4V, WMV, HLS.

Flash video files aren't supported.

To skip ahead 5 seconds or rewind 5 seconds, double-tap the right or left edge of the video, respectively.

If you switch to a different app when viewing a full-screen video in the Yandex app, it continues playing in a small pop-up window that appears on top of the other app. By tapping the window, you can go back to watching the video in the Yandex app. You can drag the window anywhere on your smartphone's screen.

To enable this feature:

1. On the Home screen, tap  (profile icon) → App settings.
2. Enable the following options:
   • Show video on top of other apps: When you exit full-screen mode, the video continues playing in a separate window.
   • Show video when leaving the tab: When you switch to another tab or other app, the video continues playing in a separate window.

The sound is ahead of the video, or there's a black screen instead of the video.

Temporarily disable power saving mode, then clear the cache and cookies.

Low video qualityLow video quality

The quality of video playback usually depends on your internet connection speed. If it's inexplicably low, try clearing the cache:

1. On the Home screen, tap  (profile icon) → App settings.
2. Tap Clear data.
3. Select Cache.
4. Tap Clear data.
