Reading books
You can read books in the Yandex app. Download a book, choose a convenient mode, and start reading.
Note
The following book formats are supported: EPUB, FB2, MOBI.
Add a book to the library
Note
To make the feature available, update the app to the latest version.
To open the library, go to the Home screen, choose Services and tap Reader.
Add a book:
To find a book, use the SmartBox or search in the Reader 
→ Search Yandex.
After you follow the link to download the file, it's downloaded and added to All books.
You can open the book immediately after downloading it. To do this, tap Read on the panel at the bottom of the screen.
- Open the notification bar (to do this, slide down the upper edge of the smartphone screen).
- Tap the file name. After the file opens, the notification in the bar disappears.
- Tap → Upload from device.
- Choose the file on your device.
The book will be added to All books.
Open
- On the Home screen, go to Services and choose Reader.
- Go to All books and tap the book.
- On the Home screen, go to Services and choose Reader.
- Under Now reading, tap the book. This will open the page where you left off.
Every book has a icon that indicates the percentage you've read.
- Tap and hold the book.
- In the menu that appears, tap Open with...
- Choose a reading app from the list.
Read
To go to the next page, tap the right edge of the screen. To go to the previous page, tap the left edge.
To open settings, tap the center of the screen. In settings, you can:
- : Close the book.
- : Open the table of contents. Tap the title of the chapter to start reading it.
- : Change font size and margins. To change the font size, tap or . Adjust the text width on the screen by tapping one of the icons.
- : Listen to the book.
- : Switch to the dark theme. To switch back to the light theme, tap .
- My Books: Open the library.
- Navigation slider: Jump to the page you need. At the bottom of the screen, drag the slider left or right.
Listening
You can also listen to books in the Yandex app. You can choose between a female or male voice. To listen to a book:
Method 1
- On the Home screen, go to Services and choose Reader.
- Tap and hold the book.
- In the menu that opens, tap Read aloud.
Method 2
- Open the book.
- Tap the center of the screen.
- Choose .
While listening, use the bottom panel to manage the track:
- : Pause.
- : Continue reading.
: Rewind 10 seconds.
: Skip forward 10 seconds.- : Select reading speed and voice. If the normal speed doesn't feel right, select fast or very fast reading. You can also select a female or male reader here.
- : Turn off reading. To make the icon appear, first tap .
Delete
Note
On Android devices, when you remove a book from the library, it remains in your device's memory.
- On the Home screen, go to Services and choose Reader.
- Tap and hold the book.
- In the menu that appears, choose Remove.
