Change the cursor
In Navigator mode and as you follow your route, the cursor marks your current location on the map. By default, it looks like this:

For car and truck routes. |

For pedestrian routes. |
|
For bicycle and scooter routes. |
To change the appearance of the cursor for car and truck routes:

Tap

Tap Settings → Navigation.

Tap Car icon and select the cursor you prefer.
Cursors can have animations. To disable the animation, select the default cursor in the settings.
Show turn hints in the corner of the screen
While driving, turn and traffic lane hints appear on the map along the route. To pin them to the corner of the screen:

Tap

Tap Settings → Navigation.

Enable Show turn hints in the corner of the screen.
Lock the map orientation north up
To lock the map's orientation to always point north up while en route:

Tap

Tap Settings → Navigation.

Enable North is always up.
Note
If this setting is enabled, the map is displayed in 2D in Navigator mode.
Enable automatic map scaling
To enable or disable automatic map scaling while traveling along a route:

Tap

Tap Settings → Navigation.

Turn the Auto-zoom option on or off.
Avoid toll roads
To plot routes avoiding or including toll roads:

Tap
-
Tap Settings → Navigation.

Turn the Avoid toll roads option on or off.
Yandex Maps ignores this setting if:
- The route can only be plotted with toll roads.
- You're plotting the route in offline mode.
- You're already on a toll road.
You can also configure the Avoid toll roads option when plotting a route.
Avoid bad and unpaved roads
To plot routes avoiding or including bad and unpaved roads:

Tap Settings → Navigation.

Turn the Avoid bad and unpaved roads option on or off.
Note
If the route can only be plotted with bad or unpaved roads, Yandex Maps ignores this setting when plotting the route.
