Using the map

The main page shows the map of your region and buttons:

— Traffic.

Shows the current traffic situation.

— Layers

Lets you switch between the layers for — parking — public transport in motion and ─ panoramas. To turn on the display of layers, refer to the section on Layers.

and — Map type.

Switches between flat (2D) and 3D map view.

— Search.

Helps you find a geographic object or an organization.

— Voice search.

Turns on voice input.

— Routes.

Lets you set a route.

— Menu.

Opens the Map type menu, My places list, Settings and Road alerts.

When moving along the route, it opens a menu with the following buttons:

  • Traffic — Turns the current traffic situationon or off.

  • Full view — Switches the view from the current route segment to the entire route. To go back to an up-close view of the current route segment, tap Continue.

  • Sound on — Turns on and off the voice guidance on the route.

  • My places — Opens the My places list.

  • Road event — Adds a road event.

  • Settings —Opens Settings.

and — Zooming.

Lets you change the map scale.

You can also change the map scale by spreading or pinching it. Or you can double tap a point on the map.

In some phone models, you can configure other ways (for example, associate zooming with the volume button).

You can display or hide these buttons.

— Current location.

Automatically determines your location. If this function is enabled, then your current location is shown on the map as () and is taken into account when searching for places and getting directions.

You can also do the following:

  • Create lists of your favorite places on the map and use them to set routes.

  • Move the map. To view a different map area, drag the map in the appropriate direction.
  • Determine the distance between two places using the scale bar for your current map:

    You can display or hide the scale ruler.

  • Change the map orientation.

  • Use the context menu options. To open the menu, tap and hold any point on the map:

  • As you move along your route, the app guides you, and tells you about upcoming maneuvers, your speed, and so on. You can configure the guiding features yourself.
