Enable notifications

Restriction. You can only enable notifications in Chromium-based browsers (version 29 and later).

Tap the icon in the top left corner of the screen, tap Settings under the list of folders and enable the Notifications option.

Change the sender name

You can change your sender name (the name displayed in the From field next to your email address) in the full version of Yandex Mail (see Changing names).

Change your signature

You can create a signature that's automatically used when you write, reply to, or forward a message. You can create multiple signatures for different purposes, such as for friends, work, or when you're using a foreign language. You can pick a signature when you're composing a message.

Create
  1. In the upper-left corner of the screen, tap .
  2. Tap Settings under the list of folders.
  3. Choose Main → Your signatures.
  4. Tap Create.
  5. Enter the signature text.
  6. Click Done.
Edit
  1. In the upper-left corner of the screen, tap .
  2. Tap Settings under the list of folders.
  3. Choose Main → Your signatures.
  4. Choose the signature you want to edit.
  5. Make changes.
  6. Click Done.
Delete
  1. In the upper-left corner of the screen, tap .
  2. Tap Settings under the list of folders.
  3. Choose Main → Your signatures.
  4. Choose the signature you want to delete.
  5. TapDelete signature.
  6. Confirm the action by tapping Delete.

Change your first name, last name, gender, or year of birth

To change the personal information you entered when creating a Yandex account, do the following:

  1. Go to Yandex ID.
  2. Tap Edit personal information.
  3. Make the necessary changes.
  4. Click Save.

Set up the email client

You can use Yandex Mail via the pre-installed email client. First, in the mailbox settings, enable the IMAP or POP3 protocol and select the authentication method:
  1. Open the “Email clients” section in Yandex Mail settings.
  2. Enable the IMAP or POP3 protocol. IMAP is preferable because it can sync all your email activities with the server.
  3. If you selected IMAP, select the authentication method:
    • Portal password — Your Yandex password.
    • Application password — A more secure password, learn more in Help for Yandex ID.

Then configure the app:

Android
  1. Enter your email address and the password you enabled in Yandex Mail settings, and then tap Next.
  2. Set the account type to IMAP.
  3. Enter the following information:

    • Server: imap.yandex.com
    • Port: 993
    • Security type: SSL/TLS

    Tap Next.

  4. Enter the following information:

    • SMTP server: smtp.yandex.com
    • Port: 465
    • Security type: SSL/TLS

    Enable the Log in to the system option, enter your username and the password that you enabled in Yandex Mail settings, and then tap Next.

  5. Specify how frequently you want to check your Inbox folder and enable the appropriate options. Tap Next.

  6. Specify the account name and your name for outgoing messages. Tap Next.

iOS
  1. Open the system settings.
  2. Go to Passwords and accounts.
  3. Tap New account.
  4. Choose Interface.
  5. Under Mail, tap New account.
  6. Enter the account data:
    • Name: Your name for outgoing emails.
    • Email: Your Yandex email address.
    • Password: The app password you created for Yandex Mail.
    • Description: The name of the account.
  7. Tap Next.
  8. Enable Mail. Tap Save.
Windows Phone
  1. Go to Settings → Email + accounts.
  2. Tap add service.
  3. Tap advanced.
    Attention. Note that if you accidentally tap another account instead of advanced, your email client won't be configured properly.
  4. Set the account type to Internet mail:.
  5. Enter your email address and the password that you enabled in Yandex Mail settings. Tap Next.
  6. Enter the following information:
    • Your name (for outgoing messages).
    • Incoming mail server: imap.yandex.com:993.
    • Account type: IMAP4.
    • Your username.
    • Password: The app password you created for Yandex Mail.
    • Outgoing mail server: smtp.yandex.com:465.

    Tap advanced settings and enable the following options:

    • Outgoing mail server requires user authentication.
    • Use the same username and password for sending mail.
    • Incoming mail requires SSL.
    • Outgoing mail requires SSL.

    Tap Log in.

Symbian
  1. Go to Messages → Functions → Settings → Email.
  2. Select Mailboxes  → New Mailbox.
  3. Enter the following information:
    • Mailbox typeIMAP
    • My email addressaddress of your mailbox
    • Incoming mail serverimap.yandex.ru
    • Outgoing (SMTP) email server smtp.yandex.ru
    • Current hotspot the hotspot for the mobile Internet connection
    • Mailbox name your name displayed in the outgoing messages
  4. Return to the Messages menu and select your mailbox.
  5. Click Functions  → Email parameters.
  6. In the incoming and outgoing mail settings, enter your Yandex username and the password you enabled in Yandex Mail's Connection parameters.

Set up mail importing or email filters

You can configure a mail importer to forward messages from another mailbox and set up email filters in the full version of Yandex Mail.

Note. To switch to the full version of Yandex Mail, tap in the upper-left corner of the screen and then the Full version link at the bottom of the screen. To return to Yandex Mail for mobile, tap the Light version link at the bottom of the page.
