Receiving and reading emails

Read a message

To read a message, log in to your mailbox and tap the message you want to read. To open a message from another folder, tap the icon in the upper left corner of the screen and select the folder from the list.

Download attachments

Open the email and tap the image of the attached file. You can download the file to your phone or save it to Yandex Disk.

Pin a message

To make it easier to find an important email, pin it to the top of the list.

  1. Open the message.

  2. On the right side of the screen, tap .
  3. Choose Pin.

The pinned message is sorted into the Pinned section, which is shown first in all folders. A section with pinned incoming emails is also displayed in the Sent folder, for example. New messages are shown under the pinned ones.

To unpin an email:

  1. Open the message.

  2. On the right side of the screen, tap .
  3. Choose Unpin.

If you unpin all messages, the Pinned section disappears. Unpinned messages are automatically sorted by the date of receipt.

Delete a message

To delete one or more messages, do the following:

  1. Select the messages. To select a message, tap on the sender's avatar in the message bar.

  2. Tap the icon at the bottom of the screen.

You can also delete a message without leaving the reading page.

  1. Open the message.

  2. Tap the icon on the right side of the screen.

Forward email

To forward the original message, do the following:

  1. Open the message.

  2. Tap the icon on the right side of the screen.
  3. Tap Forward.

Quickly reply to an email

You can reply to the sender or everyone in the chain right from the page where you read the message:

  1. Open the message.

  2. Enter your reply in the Quick reply field.
  3. Tap to send the reply.

If you only want to reply to some people in the chain, go to the full reply form by tapping and remove the ones you don't want to receive your message.

Reply to a message using suggestions

In some cases, Yandex Mail may suggest quick replies to incoming emails.

To enable Smart replies:

  1. In the upper-left corner of the screen, tap .
  2. Tap Settings under the list of folders.
  3. Choose Main.
  4. Enable the Smart replies option.

To use Smart replies:

  1. Open the message.

  2. Select one of the suggested reply options (if any) under the email content.
  3. Tap to send the reply.
Note. Suggestions don't work with automatic mailing lists.

Translate a message

If you write friends or colleagues in different languages, the Yandex Mail mobile site can translate incoming and outgoing emails to English.

To enable Yandex Translate:

  1. In the upper-left corner of the screen, tap .
  2. Tap Settings under the list of folders.
  3. Choose Main.
  4. Enable the Offer to translate emails option.

To translate a message from another language:

  1. Open the message.

  2. In the line above the message body on the left, choose the source language from the list by tapping next to the suggested default value.
  3. To the right of the source language, choose the target language from the list by tapping next to the suggested default value.
  4. Tap Translate.

Move an email to a folder

To move a message to another folder, do the following:

  1. Open the message.

  2. Tap the icon on the right side of the screen.
  3. Tap Move to folder.
  4. Select the folder you want to move the email to.

Add label

To apply a label, do the following:

  1. Open the message.

  2. On the right side of the screen, tap .
  3. Tap Labels.
  4. Select a label.
  5. Click Done.

Messages aren't reaching my mailbox

If you didn't receive an email or notification from a social network or forum, follow these instructions:

  1. Make sure you entered the correct email address on the site you're expecting to get a notification from. Find out if the sender recorded your email address correctly.
  2. Look for the message in your Spam folder. It may have ended up there. If this is the case, highlight this message and tap Not spam. The email will migrate to your Inbox.
  3. Make sure your email filters don't delete emails like that or move them to Spam or another folder. If any filter is doing this, disable it.
  4. Check that the site's or sender's email address isn't blacklisted.

If you are sure that the mailbox and address settings on the site are correct, ask the site or the sender to send the email again. If the message does not arrive within a few hours, please contact site administration.

Message delivery problems can also happen due to technical mail server problems on the sender or recipient side, heavy traffic in communication channels, and other issues. In this case, the sender receives an automated report telling them why delivery failed. If the sender didn't receive a report, they need to contact tech support for the mail service the email was sent from to find out why delivery failed.

Some messages are missing. How do I restore them?

If you accidentally deleted your messages, or your messages have disappeared, try searching for them in the Trash folder (messages in this folder are available for 7 days after being deleted). To recover your emails:

  1. Go to the Trash folder.
  2. Open the message.

  3. Tap the icon on the right side of the screen.
  4. Tap Move to folder.
  5. Select the folder you want to move the email to.

If you can't find your missing emails in the Deleted folder, it means they can't be recovered.

If you didn't delete the messages, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your session history and view the information on mailbox activity over the last week. You can do this in the full version of Yandex Mail.

  2. Change your password in your Yandex ID. Make sure you comply with email security rules.
  3. Make sure you're not using any apps that can delete emails. If a program that uses the POP3 protocol is installed on your phone, go to the program's settings and specify that you want to save email copies on the server when downloading emails.
