Suggest an improvement

Yandex Keyboard can become better if you share your suggestions. If you think some options are missing in Yandex Keyboard, suggest an improvement in the chat or via the form below.

Voice input doesn't work

Go to Yandex Keyboard settingsGestures and voice and enable the Voice input option.

In addition, check the device settings to make sure that the app is allowed to access the microphone: go to SettingsAppsPermissions enable the Microphone option.

Turn on Enter

The Enter key may change depending on the input field configuration in a specific app where you use Yandex Keyboard. Enter may turn into a search button in a browser or into a key starting a new line in a messenger.

Some apps have a setting for reassigning this key. For example:

  • WhatsApp: go to SettingsChats and enable the Enter key will send your message option.

  • Telegram: go to SettingsChat Settings and enable the Send with Enter option.

Find symbols, such as #, $, or ~

There are many symbols available in Yandex Keyboard. You can find them in the symbol layout. Tap #1? to switch to it. To go to the next page, click =<.

Some symbols are placed over the primary keys. To select such symbols, tap and hold a key until a menu appears.

For example:

  • To type §, tap and hold &.

  • To type the currency symbols $, , ¥, , ¢, and £, tap and hold .

  • To type ~ (tilde) or ` (backtick), tap and hold @.

You can also add symbols to the main keyboard layout with letters. To do this, go to Yandex Keyboard settingsKeys and enable the Special characters @, #, * option.

To type the Russian letters Ё and Ъ, tap and hold Е and Ь respectively. You can also move these letters to their own separate keys. To do this, go to Yandex Keyboard settingsLanguageRussian and enable the Include the letters Ё and Ъ option.

Improve the app performance

Warning

Yandex Keyboard is supported on devices running Android 7.0 or higher.

If Yandex Keyboard is working slower than usual, try the following:

  • Make sure that you have the latest version of Yandex Keyboard. You can get it from official app stores.

  • Clear the cache. In your device settings, go to App ManagerYandex KeyboardMemory and click Clear Cache. Menu items can differ and depend on your device.

    Warning

    In this case, your personal dictionary is cleared.

  • Try turning off VPNs, proxies, antiviruses, or ad blockers if you use them.

  • Reinstall the app.

    Before you do this, copy any important information from the clipboard because it doesn't get synced with the app upon reinstallation.

    The themes aren't saved either, so you'll have to set them up again.

Find out what data Yandex Keyboard collects

The keyboard will give better suggestions if you enable the collection of anonymous technical data, such as usage statistics, the number of launches, and login frequency. Yandex doesn't collect input data by default. Users' private information, such as passwords, email addresses, phone numbers, and credit card details, is stored on your device.

To disable the collection of anonymous technical data, go to Personalization in the Yandex Keyboard settings and disable the Make Yandex Keyboard better option.

Select a different keyboard

To use another keyboard by default, in your device settings, go to SystemKeyboardOn-screen keyboard. Select a keyboard from the list.
