How do I add an image to search?

Note. If you are the owner of a site, review the guidelines for images.

To get your image into search results, post it on a site with related content and add text describing the image:

  1. Image captions (alt and title attributes).

  2. Surrounding text (i.e. text located in direct proximity to the image on the page).

  3. Names of files and scripts, including their transliterations and simplified word-for-word translations, are also important when searching.

Then wait until the robot indexes the image.

Images are downloaded via links from the img tag src attribute, as well as from data-src and data-original attributes (in this case, an image link in the src attribute is not required).

Yandex does not index very large images. For example, if you want to post the original of a photograph, it may not make it into the Yandex.Images search database. To make sure your photograph is included in search results, make a smaller copy of the image and provide a link to the original.

Yandex only indexes images in standard image file formats (JPEG, GIF, and PNG). Background images and pictures that expand using a script are not indexed.
