# Search by filters
To search for the desired image on the [Yandex Images](https://yandex.com/images/) home page, enter your query and click **Search**.
If you need any thematic images, enter a general query, such as [Alice in Wonderland]. To find certain images, make your query more specific and use filters. For example, specify your query like [alice in wonderland tea party] and set the filter value to **Type** "With white background".
The filters are located on the results page under the search bar. If you see suggestions for clarifying your query (category) instead of filters, click the  icon under the search bar on the left.

If the requested image is not found, perhaps it is not on the internet. Try to change your query to make the search parameters less specific. For example, remove some details from the query or reset the filters.

## How to use filters {#how-use-filters}

- From a computer
**Image size**
: Yandex searches for images of all sizes by default. If you want to find images of a particular size:
1. Enter your query and click **Search**.
1. Set the **Size** filter value:
**Large**: Images larger than 1024 × 768 pixels.
**Medium**: Images between 400 × 300 and 1024 × 768 pixels.
**Small**: Images smaller than 400 × 300 pixels.
Your image search results will indicate the size of the image.
You can also specify image size manually. Just enter the appropriate values and click **OK**.
**Orientation**
: You can also set the image proportions you want: landscape, portrait, or square.
1. Enter your query and click **Search**.
1. Set the **Orientation** filter value.
**Image type**
: To search for a specific type of image:
1. Enter your query and click **Search**.
1. Set the **Type** filter value:
**Photo**: Photographs or images that look like photos. Use this filter if you want to exclude maps and other graphics from search results.
**With white background**: Images displayed against a solid white background.
**Pictures and drawings**: Illustrations. Select this type if you're looking for drawings, blueprints, maps, or paintings.
**People**: Close-ups of faces.
**Demotivators**: Images in [demotivator](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motivational_poster#Parodies_and_demotivational_posters) style.
Computer vision algorithms filter images by type and color. The contents of each image are analyzed using special algorithms that determine their characteristics.
**Prevailing color**
: If you want to find an object or background of a certain hue, use the **Color** filter and select the hue. To make searching more convenient, gradients are grouped into nine main colors. You can also filter out color or black-and-white images.
**File format**
: Yandex searches for images of any format by default. You can search for images of a certain graphic format.
1. Enter your query and click **Search**.
1. In the **File** filter, select one of the popular formats or just leave **Any file**.
**Products**
: Use this mode to find the products you need. Under each product image, you can see the price and the site where the product can be purchased.
1. Enter your query and click **Search**.
1. Select the **Products** filter.
**Recent**
: To find only images added in the last week:
1. Enter your query and click **Search**.
1. Filter by **Recent**.
In the search results, you'll see how many hours or days ago the images were uploaded.
If no recent images are found based on your search query, you'll be prompted to view results from other search engines.
**Wallpaper for your desktop**
: **Wallpapers** are images that you can set as your computer's desktop background. Wallpaper sizes correspond to standard computer screen resolutions.
To search for 2560 x 1600 pixel wallpapers:
1. Enter your query and click **Search**.
1. Select the **Wallpaper 2560x1600** filter.
**Site search**
: To search for images from a particular site, select the **On the site** filter and type the URL.
- From a mobile device
**Prevailing color**
: If you want to find an object or background of a certain hue, use the color palette to select the hue.
**Products**
: Use this mode to find the products you need. Under each product image, you can see the price and the site where the product can be purchased.

: To search for close-ups of faces:

: To search for images in GIF format:

**Images**
: To find graphic objects such as drawings, blueprints, maps, or paintings:

**White background**
: To search for objects against a plain white background:
