Children's accounts

Child accounts are only available in Russia and Belarus.

To protect your child from undesired content, you can create a child account for them on Yandex.

For example, a six-year-old user with a child account won't be able to watch movies with a 12+ age restriction on Kinopoisk, listen to tracks that contain obscene language on Yandex Music, or see 18+ and shocking content in Yandex Search (including search for images, videos, and products).

How to create

A child account can be created for a child who is under 14. Only the family group administrator and other adult members with the «Access to child accounts» role can create one. Only the administrator can grant and revoke this role.

  1. Go to the Family tab.

  2. Click Create child account.

  3. Specify the child's name and date of birth.

  4. Come up with a username and password.

After creating a child account, you can log in to it on the child's device.

The account will be linked to your phone number for enhanced control. You can enable the setting to receive notifications whenever your child logs in or out of their account as well as other important notifications from Yandex services.

How to manage

You can change the password and set age restrictions for a child account. Only the family group administrator and other adult members with the «Access to child accounts» role can do that. Only the administrator can grant and revoke this role.

How to use

The child can use Yandex services on their own. All age-inappropriate content is automatically filtered out for a child account.

How to convert an ordinary account to a child account

The family group administrator can turn the account of a user who is already registered on Yandex and is a member of the family group into a child account. You need to confirm this action from the child account.

  1. Go to the Family tab.
  2. Under Group features, click Roles → Convert account to child account.
  3. Click the name of the child member of the family group whose account you want to convert. The link will be copied to the clipboard. Send it to the child.
  4. Log in to the child account (or ask them to do it) and follow the link you receive.
  5. Confirm conversion of the account to a child account.

Warning

If the child's phone number was linked to the account, it will be saved after converting the account to a child account. Before converting an account to a child account, we recommend changing the phone number that is linked to it to a parent's number (or the number of another adult family group member) — it will be safer this way.

How to convert a child account to a standard one

The family group administrator can convert a child account into an adult account. You need to confirm this action from the child account.

  1. Go to the Family tab.
  2. Under Group features, click Roles → Convert child account to adult account.
  3. Click the name of the child member of the family group whose account you want to convert. The link will be copied to the clipboard. Send it to the child.
  4. Log in to the child account (or ask them to do it) and follow the link you receive.
  5. Confirm conversion of the child account to an adult one.

Warning

Usually, the phone number of the user who created the child account is linked to it, and when the child account is converted to an adult one, the phone number doesn't change. We recommend that after turning the child account into a standard one, you change the number linked to it to the number of an adult family group member who will be using the account — it will be safer this way.

How to transfer a child account from one family group to another

The family group administrator can transfer a child account to their family group from another one. This action must be confirmed from the child account and using the code from the SMS. The code is sent to the phone number of the user who created the child account.

  1. Go to the Family tab.

  2. In the Family group section, click Invite a family member.

  3. Choose the invitation method:

    • Share link. The link that you need to send to the child will be copied to the clipboard. Log in to the child account (or ask them to do it), follow the link received, and accept the invitation.
    • Send SMS or email. Enter the email address linked to the child account. An invitation to join a family group will be sent to this email address. Accept it.
  4. To confirm transferring the child account, an SMS with a code will be sent to the phone number of the user who created the child account. To accept the invitation to join another family group, enter the code from the SMS.

Warning

It's usually the phone number of the user who created the child account that is linked to it, and when the child account is transferred to a different family group, the phone number doesn't change. We recommend that after transferring the child account to your family group, you change the number linked to it — it will be safer this way.

FAQ about the child account

Is a child profile on Kinopoisk and a child account the same thing?

The child profile is a special mode in Kinopoisk used to get different recommendations for children and adults. This mode only works within Kinopoisk.

A child account can be used in different Yandex services.

Is the Kids section on Yandex Music connected to a child account?

Parents use the Kids section to find songs, fairy tales, audiobooks, riddles, and poems for their children on Yandex Music.

With a child account, the child can use Yandex Music and other Yandex services on their own. All unwanted content is restricted.

Which Yandex services are available to a user with a child account?

Content for children's accounts is filtered in Yandex Search (including search by images, videos, and products), on Kinopoisk (web version and app), Yandex Music (app), and Yandex Lavka (web version and app).

A child account can be used in the Yandex with Alice app (starting with app version 22.11.1 for Android and 22.11.4 for iOS) and Yandex Browser (starting with app version 22.11.0 for Android and iOS). If a user with a child account receives a link to 18+ content, they can't see it. They also can't open tabs in Incognito mode.

A user with a child account can't order a taxi in Yandex Go (web version and app) or access any of the Yandex Q content.

Can I restore a deleted child account?

You can restore a child account within 30 days after deleting it. After the child account is restored, it reappears in the family group it was deleted from. To restore the account, contact support.

Are there any restrictions on the number of children in a family group?

A family group can have up to eight members. There are no restrictions on the number of children's accounts.

Can I add a child account to a Plus Multi subscription?

You can add up to three children's accounts to your subscription.

Where does confirming logging out from a child account by SMS work?

Logging out of a child account with confirmation by SMS works in all Yandex web interfaces, the «Yandex with Alice» (starting from the 22.11.5 app version for Android and 23.1.5 for iOS) app, and Yandex Browser (starting from the 22.11.5 app version for Android, 23.1.5 for iOS, and 23.1.2 for computers).
