# Yandex ID (Key)

Yandex ID (Key) is a Yandex app (for [Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.yandex.key&hl=en) and [iOS](https://itunes.apple.com/app/id957324816)) that creates one-time passwords for enhanced protection of your accounts.

You can also add your accounts to Yandex ID (Key) via the [Yandex with Alice](https://redirect.appmetrica.yandex.ru/serve/26899898137909508?c=help) and [Yandex Start](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.yandex.searchplugin) apps. To add a Yandex ID account to Yandex ID (Key) via these apps, go to the [Security](https://id.yandex.com/security) tab, look at the **Login method** section and make sure that **One-time password** or **Password + one-time password** is selected.

A [secure](https://yandex.com/support/id/en/security.md#password-done-right) permanent password for your account must be complex, and you must always remember it and keep it confidential. Even if you do everything right, it's still vulnerable to things like viruses that record your keystrokes or copy your password to a clipboard. The one-time password stops working right away if you don't use it and gets disabled after you log in to Yandex using it. Trying to steal this type of password is useless.

Using Yandex ID (Key), you can [log in to your account](https://yandex.com/support/id/en/auth.md#set-auth-methods) either with a one-time password only, or with a combination of a permanent and one-time passwords.
