# Take a screenshot

A screenshot is an image of your computer's or mobile device's screen taken with a built-in tool or a special program. You can also take screenshots in [Yandex Disk](https://yandex.ru/support/disk-desktop-windows/screenshots.html) or [Yandex Browser](https://yandex.ru/support/browser/working-with-files/screenshots.html).

## Windows

### Using hotkeys

1. Take a screenshot:

   {% list tabs %}

   - Desktop

      Press the **Print Screen** key on your keyboard (sometimes it's called **PrntScrn**, **PrtScn**, **PrtScr**, or **PrtSc**) to copy the image of the whole screen to clipboard.

      To take a screenshot of the active window only, hold **Alt + PrtScn**.

   - Laptop

      Press **Fn + PrtScn**. Select the desired area. The screenshot will be copied to the clipboard.

   {% endnote %}

1. Save the screenshot using any graphic editor, such as **Paint**:

   1. Open **Paint**: **Start → Programs → Standard → Paint**.
   1. Press **Ctrl + V** or press **Paste** in the top menu (for Windows 7 and above).
