Browser extensions

Browser extensions are small programs that add new features to the browser or change the existing ones. They can block ads, manage passwords, translate texts, help you keep things private, and much more.

Some extensions may:

  • Slow the browser down or cause security issues, so it's important to download extensions from trusted sources only.
  • Interfere with loading sites, including Yandex Tasks. For example, VPN extensions may completely block your access to Yandex Tasks or make it difficult to complete certain tasks.

Main features and functions of browser extensions

There are different kinds of browser extensions that fit different purposes. Here are some of the most common ones:

  • Improving accessibility and usability. For example, extensions may change the font size or improve contrast on web pages, making content more accessible to people with impaired vision.

  • Blocking ads and trackers. Many extensions can block annoying ads and trackers. They make pages load faster and protect your privacy.

  • Managing passwords. Password managers help keep your passwords secure and automatically fill in site login forms.

  • User settings and site appearance improvements. Some extensions can change site appearance, for example, by adding a dark theme.
