How do I confirm domain ownership?

After connecting the domain on the Connect domain page, you will be taken to My domains page. Then you will have to confirm your actual domain ownership by one of the following three methods:

Note. The domain confirmation process can take several hours.

By confirming domain ownership, you demonstrate that the Yandex login with which the domain is connected belongs to the owner of the domain.

Attention! 

From hereon in, to manage Mail and mailboxes on the connected domain, you will have to sign in with the login which was used to connect the domain to Yandex.Mail. Therefore, if the domain belongs to a company, it is recommended to connect it using a separate account, not a personal one. Please note that account access can only be restored if you have provided additional personal information (security question, mobile phone number, additional mail address, full name and other data) in Yandex.Passport. Please make sure that all information is true and correct, that you have access to the additional email address or mobile phone, and can also answer the security question.

First method

Upload an html-file with the name and text found on the My domains page to the root directory of your website. You can do this using FTP access to your website.

Second method

Please enter the following settings:

  • Name of record: yamail-<name> (or yamail-<name>.domain.tld. with a dot at the end, depending on the interface)
  • Record type: CNAME

  • Data: mail.yandex.com. (the address must include the dot at the end)

If you have any problems or questions regarding domain confirmation, please contact the support service.

You can see the status of the domain on the My domains page.  The status of a confirmed domain will change from "Not confirmed" to "Waiting for installation of MX records".

Third method

Assign the email provided on the My domains page as the primary contact email in your account settings (whois).

In most cases it is possible to change the contact email in your personal profile on the website of your domain name registrar.

Emails sent to an email address of the type john+416b8c72@yandex.com will arrive at the address john@yandex.com. If your registrar does not accept an e-mail with the "+" character, you can just provide the second part of it (for example, 416b8c72@yandex.com). In this case, immediately after confirming your domain (this will be shown on the My Domains page), you must change this address to your real email.
