# Setting up on TP-Link routers

Yandex DNS is built into most TP-Link routers. It can be configured for individual devices or for all devices at once.

Update the router firmware before setting up Yandex DNS:

1. Open the router settings page. For this, in the browser's address bar, enter `192.168.0.1` or `192.168.1.1`
1. Enter your username and password.

1. [Upgrade the firmware](https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/688/) to the latest version.


## Set up in the interface {#settings-router}

If you couldn't find a section for enabling Yandex DNS in the router settings, specify the DNS addresses [manually](#settings-manually).

1. Click **Advanced**.

1. In the left menu, select **Parental control**&nbsp;→ **Yandex DNS**.

1. Select the filtering mode for all devices:
    1. Enable Yandex DNS.

    1. In the **Default Yandex.DNS type** field, select the [filtering mode](https://yandex.com/support/dns/en/ya-dns-modes.md#ya-dns-mode) for all the connected devices.

    1. Click **Save**.

1. Assign custom modes for individual devices, for example, **Family mode** for your child's laptop:
    1. Under **Yandex.DNS rules for devices**, click **Add**.

    1. Click **View connected devices** and select the desired device.

    1. In the **Client name** field, add the name of the device.

    1. Select the [Yandex DNS mode](https://yandex.com/support/dns/en/ya-dns-modes.md#ya-dns-mode) for the device.

    1. Click **Save**.

## Configure manually {#settings-manually}

If your TP-Link router has no built-in Yandex DNS support, set up the service manually:

1. Click **Advanced**.

1. In the left menu, select **Network**&nbsp;→ **Internet**.

1. Under **Internet**, click **Advanced**.

1. In the **MTU Size** field, enter **1400**, then click **Save**.

1. In the left menu, select **Network**&nbsp;→ **DHCP Server**.

1. In the **Primary DNS** and **Secondary DNS** fields, specify the addresses of the DNS servers that you[ selected](https://yandex.com/support/dns/en/ya-dns-modes.md).

1. Click **Save**.

1. Restart the router. To do this, in the left menu, select **System Tools**&nbsp;→ **Reboot**, then click **Reboot**.
