Setting up on ASUS routers

Yandex DNS is built into most ASUS routers. It can be configured for individual devices or for all devices at once.

Update the router firmware before setting up Yandex DNS:

  1. Open the router settings page using one of the following methods:

  2. Enter your username and password.

    Note

    ign in using the default username and password — admin/admin

  3. Click Administration → Firmware Upgrade.

  4. Upgrade the firmware to the latest version. If you see the error «The router cannot connect to the ASUS server to check for the firmware update», download the latest firmware version in the ASUS Download Center.

Set up in the interface

If you couldn't find the section for enabling Yandex DNS in the router settings, specify the DNS addresses manually.

Using the «Quick Internet Setup» wizard

  1. Click Quick Internet Setup → Router Setup.
  2. Enable the option I want to use Yandex.DNS and I agree to the conditions of use. To enable the Yandex DNS Safe Mode work for all the network devices, enable the option Use Safe Mode by default.

Under Parental control

  1. Click Parental control → Yandex.DNS.
  2. Enable the option Use Yandex.DNS.
  3. Select your device from the drop-down list in the block Clients List to register it.
  4. Select the filter profile:
    • The default value applies to all network devices, including unregistered ones.
    • You can assign a separate profile to individual devices, such as your child's desktop. To do this, select it from the list to the right of the name.
  5. Click Apply.

Configure manually

If your ASUS router has no built-in Yandex DNS support, set up the service manually:

  1. Click Advanced Settings → Internet.
  2. In the section WAN DNS Settings enter the IP addresses of the DNS servers that you selected.
  3. Click Apply.
