What happens if two advertisers have identical bids or strategies?

If bids are equal, then the winner of the auction will be chosen at random with each bidder having an equal chance at winning.

If several advertisers choose the same strategies and parameters, then impressions will be distributed evenly among them.

The price of impressions in cases where the bids for a second-price auction are identical is determined in the following way:

  • If all bids in the auction are identical (for example, 10 kopecks per impression), then the winner will pay that bid.
  • If various bids participate in the auction (for example, a bid for 5 kopecks and several for 10), then the winner will pay the second highest bid + the bid increment (so 5.1 kopecks).
