View history of file changes

Yandex.Disk has been keeping a history of file changes since May 1, 2018. For example, if you accidentally deleted important information from a file, you can go back to its previous version and restore the data.

Previous versions of a file don't take up space on your Yandex.Disk.

The history of changes is stored for 90 days from the latest change. For example, if you edited a document on April 17, the history will contain all its versions from January 17 to April 17. However, if you don't have additional paid space on Yandex.Disk, you will only have access to versions from the last 14 days. To access the full changelog, sign up for Yandex 360 or Yandex.Disk Pro.

To open the history of file changes:

  1. Tap and hold the file icon.
  2. In the upper panel, tap .
  3. Select History.

The history shows the date and time when the file was created and modified. All actions available for a file are grouped by days.

To view the previous version of a file, tap next to the date you're interested in and select Open. If you want to keep a copy of the old version or replace the older version with the current one, tap and select Restore.

Versions of other people's public files

You can't view the changelog for other people's public files. If you save someone else's public file on your Yandex.Disk, the changelog starts from that moment.

Versions of files in shared folders

The shared folder history shows changes made by all folder members. Whether the change history is available for 14 days or 90 days depends on whether the owner of the shared folder has a subscription to Yandex 360 or Yandex.Disk Pro.
