View history of file changes

Yandex.Disk saves a history of file changes. For example, if you accidentally delete important information from a file, you can go back to a previous version and restore it.

Previous versions of a file don't take up space on your Yandex.Disk.

If you have a Yandex.Disk Pro subscription, you can access the change history for the last 90 days. Without a Yandex.Disk Pro subscription, you can view the change history for the last 14 days.
  1. Open history
  2. Versions of other people's public files
  3. Versions of files in shared folders

Open history

  1. Select a file.
  2. Click on the upper panel or History in the context menu.

The history shows the date and time when the file was created and modified. If you change the file multiple times, these consequent file versions will be grouped together.

If you want to find out what changes were made in one of the older versions of a file, download it. If after that want to replace the current version with the old one, click Restore and select Replace current one. If you need both the old and the current versions, click Restore and select Save as copy.

Versions of other people's public files

You can't view the history of changes for other people's public files. If you save someone else's public file on your Disk, the history of changes starts from that moment.

Versions of files in shared folders

Shared folder history shows changes made by all folder members. The change history may be available for 14 or 90 days, depending on whether the owner of the shared folder has a Yandex.Disk Pro subscription.
