Strategy: Cheapest Position in Ad Block

The “Cheapest position in ad block” strategy allows advertisers to show ads for a specifically defined keyword in the last position of one or two ad blocks. Each ad will get the minmum amount of traffic in the block where it is displayed. This strategy can be useful if the advertiser is not capable of handling a large stream of customers.

Description

Advertisers manually set the CPC for each keyword and select the ad block that the strategy will apply to. There are two possible settings for this strategy:

  • Enable in Premium Placement. When your bid is high enough, your ads will display in a premium placement position for as low a price as possible. If your CPC is not high enough for premium placement displays, your ad will be shown in the highest available position of a block that corresponds to your bid level.

  • Enable in Premium and Guaranteed Placement. When your bid is high enough, your ads will display in a premium placement position for as low a price as possible. If the set CPC is not enough for entry to premium placement but enough for “guaranteed placement”, then the ad will display in a position at a minimum price in guaranteed placement.

If your bids aren't sufficient for entry into any type of ad block, your ads will be displayed in a position that matches the set price.

Attention!
  • The ad position depends on the CPC specified. This strategy does not guarantee impressions below the Yandex search results or in premium placement positions if the CPC is not sufficient for that position.

  • Ads will only be displayed in the ad blocks selected. Ads will be displayed in the highest available position in the remaining ad blocks. Because of this, it's possible that ads set to “Cheapest position in ad block: premium placement” will be shown in first position under search results if the advertiser's bids are not enough for entry into premium placement.

  • If several advertisers use this strategy and want to serve their ads for a given keyword at the minimum possible price, then all such ads are guaranteed to end up in the block at a minimum price and get a minimum amount of traffic. This strategy does not guarantee that the ads in the block will be in a certain order.

  • If your campaign was running earlier using any strategy under manual management, you switched to automated management, and then enabled the “Cheapest Position in Ad Block” strategy, when you switch back to manual management your bids will be set to match the rates you had right before switching to an automated strategy.
