Creating a display campaign

To create a display campaign, follow these steps:

Step 1. Go to the campaign creation page and set parameters

In the Create campaign drop-down menu, select Display campaigns. Enter a campaign name and select your display regions. Enter start and end dates for your campaign and a display strategy. We recommend using automatic strategies — “Maximum impressions for the minimum cost” or “Lower cost for repeat impressions”. You can also set an impression frequency limit that will determine how many times your campaign ads can be served to the same user.

Step 2. Add creative

You can upload the ad creative from your computer or create one using the Ad Builder. You can upload an HTML5 banner or a graphic file as a creative. You can add only one ad creative for each ad.

In the Creative Ad Builder, the creatives automatically meet all technical requirements. We recommend that you create components in all the available sizes so that your ads can be displayed in as many different places as possible. If you have creatives for graphic ads that you made previously using the Ad Builder, you can use them. More information about the Ad Builder.

After saving an ad, you can only replace the creative for that ad with other components of the same size.

To pass moderation, creatives must meet the requirements.

Step 3. Enter a Yandex.Audience pixel and impression tag

Pixels are a way to group users who previously saw your display ad. Create a pixel in Yandex.Audience and add it to your banner code. Read more about pixels in the Yandex.Audience Help.

If you already work with ADFOX, TNS, or Gemius, you can use special tags to calculate your ad impressions. You must include the %random% or %aw_random%macro in the tag.

Step 4. Set up impression criteria

Ads from display campaigns are only served in the Yandex Advertising Network based on keywords or user profiles. You can only select one type of impressions criteria per ad group. You cannot change the type of impression criteria after you save the ad group.

User profile
A user profile consists of the cumulative characteristics of the users that you want to serve your ads to. For example, gender, age, and user interests on the internet. Determine what your particular audience looks like and create a profile based on that data.
Keywords
Keywords determine the site content and user interests that may trigger your ad to display in the Yandex Advertising Network. For example, an ad about tours to Mars might be displayed on a page about traveling, or shown to a user who is interested in flights to Mars.

Ad moderation and campaign launching

After you create your ads, a moderator will review them to make sure they meet all requirements. Click Send to moderation and confirm that you accept Yandex's terms for publishing your ad. It usually takes the moderators a few hours to review ads. Moderators do not work at night. On weekends and holidays, it might take longer than on business days.

Your moderation results will be emailed to the address you provided when you created the ad campaign.

Your ads will begin displaying as soon as Yandex receives your payment.
