Tags let you merge ad groups, making it quicker and more convenient to work with. Ad groups that have the same tag can be selected with just one click to view or perform other actions.
Ads can be labelled by product category, brand, cost, etc. You can assign several different tags to one group.
The process of creating tags is simple:
In the “Manage tags” section.
Go to this section from the campaign preview page (follow the “Tags” link and then click “Edit tags”). You will then see a list of your current tags where you can remove, edit, or create new tags.
Then go to the ad group preview page.
Click “Tags” under the required ad group. After clicking on this button, you will be able to add new tags and use them for the group. Existing tags will appear in a pop-up window once you click the button. Here you will be able to attach or remove tags from an ad.
Finally, on the ad group creation page.
Click “Add tag” in the “Tags” section. A line will appear in the opened window, where you can enter new tags for of the group (separated by commas), or select tags from the list of already existing campaign tags by checking the corresponding box.
Click on the “Tags” link on the campaign page then “Edit tags” to rename or delete a tag.
The link leads to the tag management page, which contains a list of the tags you've already created.
Simply edit the name field to rename a tag.
Click on the cross symbol next to a tag to delete it. Once you click “Save”, all deleted tags will be removed from the list and from all ad groups.
It is also possible to add new tags on this page. They should be written in the empty box, separated by commas.
Adding multiple tags
You can attach one tag to multiple ad groups at once. Simply select the required ad groups on the view ad group page and select “Attach tags” in the list of actions at the bottom of the page.
In the window that opens you can either attach an existing tag to a group or create a new one.
Choosing ad groups by tag
You can select all ad groups with the same tag by doing the following:
Click the “Tags” link at the top of the page, then click on the tag name in that window
Click on the tag name in the “Tags” section below the ad group
Click on the number denoting the number of the selected ad groups on the tag management page
All ad groups with that tag will be listed on the page. You can then view, edit them, or apply actions using the menu at the bottom of the page.
Selecting untagged ads
If you need to quickly find all the untagged ad groups, please click“Show untagged ads ” in the window displayed when clicking the “Tags” link in the upper part of the page.
Ad groups without tags will be shown on the page and you will be able to interact with them.
No more than 200 unique tags are allowed for a campaign, and no more than 30 for an ad group.
The tag length cannot exceed 25 characters. You can use any character excluding the comma (which is used to separate tags)
