New means of interaction between Yandex.Direct and Yandex.Metrica now live

As promised, changes have been made to the way Yandex.Metrica registers clicks from Yandex.Direct. Starting from today, you are required to either enter your Metrica counters or use Tagging links for Metrica, which can both be found in the settings for each campaign.

Whether you enter counter numbers or enable tagging links is completely up to you. Please keep in mind that tagging links alone can cause discrepancies in some cases, so entering counters in your campaign settings is the preferred method.

This ensures Yandex.Metrica collects accurate data from Yandex.Direct and that the following features continue working:

  • automatic bidding strategies which use goals from Metrica
  • retargeting using goals or segments from Metrica
  • additional relevant phrases optimized by goals from Metrica

It's your choice whether to use a counter or tagging links. Counters, however, help provide the most accurate data in Yandex.Metrica reports for Yandex.Direct.

What should I do if my counters are already entered in my campaign settings, but there is no Yandex.Direct data in Yandex.Metrica, and there is no Yandex.Metrica data in Yandex.Direct?

Please make sure that the Metrica counters entered in your campaign settings are the ones installed on the advertised website. If they do not match, Yandex.Metrica will stop collecting data and there will be no data sent back to Yandex.Direct.
