# How to add an ad

To add an ad:

1. On the **Ad groups** tab, select a group.

1. On the **Ads** tab, click **Add**.
    Select an ad type: "Image ad" or "Combinatorial ad".

    Since July 7, Text & Image ads in unified performance campaigns are available for editing only. For campaigns that previously relied on Text & Image ads, create combinatorial ads.

    On July 14, existing Text & Image ads began upgrading to combinational ads. Learn more about the [upgrade](https://yandex.ru/support/direct/ru/unified-performance-campaign/upgrade-to-comb) in Yandex Direct Help.

    You can create image ads in Direct Commander only based on creatives uploaded from the computer or internet (but not creatives created in Ad Builder).
    
1. Edit the ad settings in the **Editing** section in the Inspector.

    When creating catalog page ads, titles and texts are generated automatically. To manually enter text for these ads, use the [Yandex Direct Pro](https://direct.yandex.com/) interface. For more information, see [Yandex‍ ‍Direct Help](https://yandex.ru/support/direct/en/unified-performance-campaign/create-catalogs). In the future, this option will become available in Direct Commander.

   Press **Ctrl** + **S** (**Cmd ⌘** + **S** on MacOS) or click the **Save** button at the bottom of Inspector.

1. Check that the ad is valid, i.e., it has the ![](../_assets/icon-ready.png =10x) icon next to it.
    
    The ![](../_assets/icon-error.png =15x) icon means that your ad contains errors: not all required parameters are set or the values of some parameters are invalid. To quickly create multiple ads with similar settings, click **Add** as many times as you need, then select all the created ads and make the same settings in the Inspector.
