# How to split an ad group into several ad groups

If an ad group contains more than 200 keywords, such ad group is be marked by ![](../_assets/icon-error.png =15x). A group like that needs to be split before you send your campaign to the server. Splitting creates an identical group (or several groups) where all the ads, except the archived ones, are copied, and "excess" keywords are moved to.

To split the ad group, click **Split group** in the error prompt.

To split several ad groups, select the groups, right-click on any of them, and select **Split group** in the menu.
