Basic workflows

Tracker has several basic workflows to help you get started quickly. They cover the most popular scenarios for using Tracker.

Basic workflows cannot be edited or deleted. If you want to create a custom workflow, make a copy of one of the basic templates and edit it.

Basic

The most versatile workflow. It includes these statuses:
  • Open

  • In Progress

  • Need Info

  • Resolved

  • Closed

Possible transitions between statuses:

When switching issues to the Closed status, the user will be asked to leave a comment and choose one of the resolutions:

  • Fixed

  • Won't fix

  • Duplicate

Development + Testing

This workflow is optimized for software development and testing processes. It includes these statuses:

  • Open

  • In Progress

  • Need Info

  • Resolved

  • In Review

  • Ready for Test

  • Testing

  • Tested

  • Release Candidate

  • Closed

Possible transitions between statuses:

When switching issues to the Closed status, the user will be asked to leave a comment and choose one of the resolutions:

  • Fixed

  • Won't fix

  • Can't reproduce

  • Duplicate

  • Later

Scrum

This workflow is appropriate if you use the Scrum methodology. It includes these statuses:

  • Open

  • In Progress

  • Closed

Possible transitions between statuses:

The Scrum workflow only allows the Fixed resolution. The resolution is added automatically when the task status changes to Closed.

Kanban

This workflow is appropriate if you use the Kanban methodology. It includes these statuses:

  • Backlog

  • Selected for development

  • In Progress

  • Closed

Possible transitions between statuses:

TheKanban workflow only allows the Fixed resolution. The resolution is added automatically when the task status changes to Closed.

Support

This workflow is optimized for technical support tasks. It includes these statuses:
  • Open

  • In Progress

  • Need Info

  • Closed

Possible transitions between statuses:

When switching issues to the Closed status, the user will be asked to leave a comment and choose one of the resolutions:

  • Fixed

  • Won't fix

  • Can't reproduce

  • Duplicate

  • Later

Requests and Approval

Suitable for tasks that require approval before starting them. This is a linear workflow, so progress can't start on an issue before it is approved.

The With Approval workflow includes these statuses:
  • Open

  • Need Acceptance

  • Confirmed

  • In Progress

  • Resolved

  • Closed

Possible transitions between statuses:

The workflow includes these resolutions:

  • Fixed Added automatically when switching issues from the Resolved status to the Closed status.

  • Won't fix Added automatically when an issue switches from any status other than Resolved to the Closed status.
