How to plan a sprint

A sprint is a development iteration that lasts a certain amount of time (usually from two to four weeks). To plan a sprint:

Create a new sprint

  1. Select an Agile board from the Agile menu on the upper panel.

  2. Go to the Sprints tab.

  3. Click at the top of the Sprints column.

  4. Enter the name of the sprint and the start and end time.

  5. Click Save.

Estimate the effort required for issues

Estimate the effort it will take to implement the issues in the backlog. Effort is measured in Story Points, which is an abstract way to define the complexity of project issues relative to each other. Each team comes to an agreement on how they determine the effort for their tasks.

To set the effort for an issue:

  1. Select an Agile board from the Agile menu on the upper panel.

  2. Go to the Sprints tab.

  3. Hover over the issue in the Issues column.

  4. Enter the number of Story Points in the box to the right.

Add issues to a sprint

To add issues to a sprint, drag and drop them to the sprint you want in the right column. The total number of Story Points for the sprint is shown to the right of its name.
