By default, active folders display the last 30 messages. To view previous emails, click More messages under the email list.

You can change the number of messages displayed per page in the settings:

  1. Go to All settings  → Other.
  2. The Message list section, specifies the number of messages to be displayed.

All emails in the current folder display in the three-panel interface. To read emails you received earlier, scroll down on the list.

Group and sort emails

By subject

If you frequently correspond with a certain person/people, enable View → group by subject option (to the right above the list of messages). Your emails will be grouped by email thread. To expand or collapse a list of messages in a thread, click the subject of the message.

The thread contains all emails with the same subject, even if some of them are stored in other folders and were sent to other recipients.

Note. Note that the messages stored in the Spam, Trash and Drafts folders are never grouped.

You can also move within a message thread by using the message page.

To ungroup messages, disable the View → group by subject option (above the message list, on the right).

By sender

Yandex.Mail will display all emails from a sender, even if they arrived at different times. To see all emails from a sender, click on their portrait in the email list.

If you click on the sender's portrait and the list of emails from them does not appear:
  1. Open any email from that sender.
  2. Click on the sender's name at the top of the email.
  3. In the window that opens, click Correspondence.
Note. You can search your mailbox to find all emails from that sender. Just enter the sender's name in the search bar (top right).

By time

To view messages for a certain month or year, you can use the Messages by month toggle (below the list of messages, to the right).

You can only filter messages by month or by year within the current folder. If you do not see any messages for the specified period, make sure you have opened the right folder.

Note. The three-panel interface does not support viewing messages by month.

If none of the folders contain a message for the specified period, then the message does not exist in your mailbox. For details on what might cause this issue and how to resolve it, see Emails have disappeared from the mailbox.

Read email in a message list

You can view messages directly in a message list.

  1. Click All settings  → Other.
  2. Enable the open message in list of messages option.
  3. Save the changes.
Note. The three-panel interface does not support reading emails in the message list.

View emails by category

Yandex.Mail makes it easy to manage different categories of messages. Open the corresponding tab to view notifications from social networks, orders from online stores, or electronic air tickets:

Emails from personal mailboxes are displayed on the Conversations tab.

To disable category tabs:
  1. Click All settings  → Other.
  2. Disable the Show message categories option.
  3. Save the changes.
Note. In the three-panel interface, you can not view emails by category.

Pin email to top of list

If you want an email to be visible, pin it to the top of the list. Just select the email and click Pin.

Pinned emails are highlighted with a yellow bar on the left and appear first in all your folders. For example, an incoming email will also display in your Sent folder. New emails will appear underneath your pinned ones.

Note. If your Inbox contains old emails or emails that you sent, check to make sure that there aren't pinned emails among them.

To unpin an email, select it and click Unpin.

The yellow bar will dissapear after you unpin all your emails. Unpinned emails will automatically get sorted by the date received.

Mark an email as read or unread

To mark a message as read, click to the left of the subject.

To mark a message as unread, click to the left of the subject.

To mark all messages in a folder as read, click to the right of the folder name and confirm:

The “Contacts”, “Calendar”, and “Disk” buttons are missing

You're probably working in compact mode. Follow these steps to go back to full mode.

  1. Click Layout (in the upper right corner).
  2. Disable Compact mode.

The counter shows unread emails and there aren't any in the list

Browser plug-ins and extensions may cause this discrepancy. You can temporarily disable them to determine if this is the case. If ad blockers or antivirus extensions are causing problems with Yandex.Mail, then you can add the Mail page to the list of exceptions for that particular extension.

Hold your cursor over a folder to find out how many emails are in it. If the folder contains unread emails, that number will display to the right of the folder name.
