Upload files to Disk

Attention. The maximum file size on Yandex.Disk is 10 GB.

To upload a file exceeding 2 GB, use the “Yandex.Disk” web app (versions for Windows, Mac OS and Linux are available) or the WebDAV client. Browsers cannot handle such large files.

  1. Uploading files with the browser
  2. Upload using the “Yandex.Disk” web app
  3. Upload from iOS and Android devices
  4. Copy files shared by others
  5. Import photos from social networks

Uploading files with the browser

  1. Go to the Disk page.
  2. Open the Yandex.Disk folder you want to add files to.
  3. Drag separate files or an entire folder to the page (you can also upload separate files to the page by clicking Upload).
Note. If your folders aren't uploading, make sure you are using a browser powered by WebKit.
  4. To upload more files, click Upload more. To hide the upload box, click Hide.

You can quit loading files while they are in the process of loading. To do this, click Cancel all uploads.

You can also share a link to the file as soon as it has uploaded.

Upload from iOS and Android devices

The Yandex.Disk mobile apps let you upload files from your phone as well as take photos and save them directly to Disk.

Copy files shared by others

If someone shares a link to a file stored on Yandex.Disk with you, you can copy this file to your Disk.

To copy a file, click on the link you received and then click Save to Yandex.Disk in the properties panel on the right. The file will be moved to your Downloads folder on Yandex.Disk.

You can find the Downloads folder in the upper panel of Yandex.Disk. To do this, click  → Downloads.

Import photos from social networks

You can upload your photos to Yandex.Disk from VK, Facebook, Instagram, and Google+.

Just follow these steps:

  1. Go to Photos from social networks in the panel on the right.
  2. Select a social network and click the corresponding button:
  3. (Optional) Log in and allow Yandex to access your social network account.
Note. To connect your social network account to Yandex.Disk, Yandex needs to access your account. Yandex will not use your account information in any way that you did not grant permission to.
  4. Select albums and click Next. Photos will then be imported to your Social networks folder.

Problems with uploads

A file was marked as a virus

All files that are created, uploaded, or are already stored on Yandex.Disk are checked with NOD32 antivirus. If the antivirus scan marks a file as suspicious, most likely it is actually infected. If you think the file is all right, you can report a false virus detection using the form on the page https://www.esetnod32.ru/support/knowledge_base/new_virus/.

Note. Virus databases of various antivirus programs may differ. This means that one antivirus may fail to find viruses in a file, but another antivirus may flag it.

You can independently verify a file using Virus Total, where files are checked using dozens of antivirus products.

A file won't upload

If you receive an error message while uploading a file, please make sure that the file is smaller than 2 GB, which is the maximum size for the web interface. You will need to use the Yandex.Disk app or connect via WebDAV to upload larger files.

If the file is smaller than 2 GB, the issue may be caused by a proxy server or a second firewall (in addition to the default OS firewall). Try temporarily disabling your firewalls and upload the files again.

You might also try disabling your antivirus software to rule out any possibility that it is interfering with the app. If that doesn't work, see if using a different browser solves your problem. You can download another browser from browsers.yandex.com.

The upload speed is very slow

Proxy servers and additional firewalls are the most common causes of slow download speeds. We recommend temporarily disabling them when downloading files.
