# Yandex Browser

Screen readers read aloud everything on the screen, and the user controls it with touch gestures and keyboard shortcuts.
Yandex Browser has built-in support for screen readers:

Press the [**F6** key](#hotkey-f6) to access all the features in the sidebar and SmartBox, and switch to pop-up windows.

You can use the [SmartBox](https://yandex.ru/support/browser/en/search-and-browse/search.html) to enter addresses and search for information. SmartBox can also display addresses as "domain > title".
Press the [ **F6**](#hotkey-f6) key and go to the SmartBox. The screen reader will read the title.
To enable title display in the SmartBox:
1. Select **** → **Settings**.
1. Go to **Interface**.
1. Under **SmartBox**, enable **Use "domain > title" format for page addresses**.

The side panel is only available in Windows.

The [side panel](https://yandex.ru/support/browser/en/personalization/background.html#sidebar) provides easy access to Yandex services, notifications, tabs, and bookmarks. You can also use it to take notes and control audio playback.
Side panel features are now available to users with low vision.
Choose a function using a screen reader program:
1. Press the [**F6** key](#hotkey-f6) to access the side panel.
1. Press **Tab** until you reach the icon of the function you need.
1. Press **Enter**.
To enable the side panel:
1. Select **** → **Settings**.
1. Go to **Interface**.
1. Under **Side panel**, enable **Show side panel** and select **always** from the list.

In the caret browsing mode, you can navigate the page using the keyboard rather than the mouse, like in text editors.
Press **F7** to enable the mode, then click anywhere on the page to make the pointer turn into a cursor.
You can:
- Navigate sites using arrows (left, right, up, and down).
- Select text fragments by holding **Shift**.
- Follow links by putting the cursor anywhere on the link and pressing **Enter**.
To disable the mode, press **F7** again.

1. **Address bar**.
Use **Tab** to switch between the **Copy**, **Share**, **Add page to bookmarks**  buttons, and the sites on your Tableau. Once you've entered some text, use the arrows or **Tab** to switch between [search suggestions](https://yandex.com/support/browser/search-and-browse/search#suggests).
1. **SmartBox, level 1**
Use **Tab** to switch between the **Protect** , **Reviews**, **Alice, read this article** , **Enable Reader mode** , and other buttons.
1. **SmartBox, level 2**
Use **Tab** to switch between the **Refresh page**, **Go to Yandex** , **Password manager** , **Downloads** , **Back** , and other buttons.
1. **Bookmarks bar** (if enabled).
Use **Tab** to switch between bookmarks.
1. **Infobar** (if displayed).
Use **Tab** to move between the bar elements.
1. **Side panel** (if enabled).
Use **Tab** to switch between the **History** , **Notes** , and other buttons.
1. **Window** (if displayed).
Use **Tab** to move between the window elements.
1. **Page body**
Use **Tab** to move between the page elements.

Page zoom and font size in the browser can be adjusted to make it easier for visually impaired people to read from the screen.
- Change browser page zoom using [keyboard shortcuts](#hotkeys).
- Only change the font size on sites:
1. Select ** ** → **Settings**.
1. Go to **Websites**.
1. Under **Font size**, click **Font settings**.
1. In **Font settings**, go to **Font size** and move the slider to the right.
