Syncing to your mobile device or computer

Syncing allows you to view and edit your events on Yandex.Calendar from a smartphone via a different calendar app. Changes made in other apps will be transferred to Yandex.Calendar when you connect to the internet.

Calendars are synced through CalDAV protocol. Here are instructions for setting up CalDAV for the following platforms:

  1. Mac OS X
  2. Windows
  3. iOS
  4. Android

Mac OS X

For computers running Mac OS X, syncing is configured using iCal:

  1. Open iCal → Preferences....
  2. Click in the lower left corner of the window under the Accounts tab.
  3. Add an account by filling out the following information:
    • Account type: CalDAV

    • User Name: your username@yandex.ru

    • Password: your password (or app password if you have enabled two-factor authentication)

    • Server Address: caldav.yandex.ru

  4. Click Create.
  5. Make sure that the account appears in the list of calendars and then set other settings

Note. In OS X Snow Leopard, the calendar listed first will be used by default.

Windows

For computers running Windows, Yandex.Calendar is synced using the Lightning add-on for Mozilla Thunderbird:

  1. Download and install Mozilla Thunderbird.
  2. In the Home tab, click Create new calendar.
  3. Select Network and click Next.
  4. Select CalDAV. In the Address field, enter the address from the settings of Yandex.Calendar's web interface. To do this:
    1. Click in the upper right corner.
    2. Choose a calendar from the Calendars in the left panel.
    3. Click the CalDAV link in Export to iCal, HTML or CalDAV.
    4. Copy the address.

Turn off the Work offline option. Click Next.

  5. Enter a calendar name, choose a color and leave the other options as their default.
  6. When the Authentication is required pop-up window appears, enter your account settings:
    • User Name: your username@yandex.ru
    • Password: your password (or app password if you have enabled two-factor authentication)
  7. Click Ready.
  8. To open the tab with the calendar, click in the upper right corner.

iOS

  1. Click Settings → Calendar (Mail, Contacts, Calendars on iOS versions below 9).
  2. Click Accounts → Add Account.
  3. In the list, select Other → CalDAV account.
Attention. Don't confuse CalDAV with CardDAV — the latter is needed for searching for contacts.
  4. Add an account by filling out the following information:
    • Server Address: caldav.yandex.ru

    • User: your username@yandex.ru

    • Password: your password (or app password if you have enabled two-factor authentication)

If syncing is not working, then check the advanced settings:

  • SSL: Yes

  • Port: 443

  • Account URL: https://caldav.yandex.ru/principals/users/your username@yandex.ru/

Android

In Android there is no built-in support for syncing via the CalDAV Protocol. To sync your Calendar, set the smartphone app which uses system calendars and can work with the CalDAV Protocol, for example CalDAV-Sync.

Attention. This app is not available for free.
  1. Open your smartphone's settings.
  2. Select Accounts and syncing (or simplyAccounts).
  3. Tap Add account.
  4. Select CalDAV.
  5. Add an account by filling out the following information:
    • Server name: caldav.yandex.ru:443

    • Use SSL: yes

    • User name: your username@yandex.ru

    • Password: your password (or app password if you have enabled two-factor authentication)

  6. Save your entered settings.
