Protect: blocking dangerous content downloads on HTTPS pages.

The HTTPS protocol supports data encryption and is considered to be secure for transferring confidential information. Connections over HTTPS are only safe, however, if all page elements are encrypted. Sometimes website pages are loaded over HTTPS, but they contain unencrypted elements: plug-ins, JavaScript scripts, CSS style sheets, etc. Hackers can intercept and use these to crack the site. Therefore Yandex.Browser protects you from unencrypted elements.

Blocking unencrypted elements

If a page uses HTTPS but includes unencrypted elements, then it will be blocked and the icon  will appear in the SmartBox.

If you still want to download the blocked content, click the icon, and then click Download unsecure elements.

Attention! We do not recommend downloading unencrypted elements if you are going to enter personal data or make e-payments through this website.

Disable blocking

Attention! To allow unencrypted elements from pages downloading over HTTPS you need to completely disable your shield against malicious software and websites in your browser. We do not recommend this.

To disable malware protection

  1. click the icon  Settings.
  2. In the lower half of the Settings page, click Show advanced settings.
  3. In the Privacy section, disable the Protect from malicious websites and software option.
  4. Relaunch the browser to apply the changes.
