Install the browser

System requirements

Before you install the browser, make sure your computer meets the system requirements:

OS version

Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7

Processor

Intel Pentium 4 (or later)

RAM

512 MB minimum

Free disk space

400 MB minimum

Note. Support for Microsoft Windows XP and Vista operating systems ended in April 2017.

Installation process

Attention. By downloading the browser, you consent to the terms of the License Agreement.
  1. Download the setup file from browser.yandex.com/.
  2. Open the downloaded file in your browser.
  3. Click Install.
  4. Allow the installer to make changes to your computer.

Questions about installation

Where can I download a full version of the installer?

The complete version of the Yandex.Browser installation file allows you to install the browser even without an internet connection or when the network is slow. You can download it here.

How can I install the browser for all my Windows accounts?

At this time, you can't install the browser for multiple Windows users.

How do I set the default browser?

To make Yandex.Browser your default browser:

  1. Tap  → Settings.
  2. In the Default browser section, click Make Yandex.Browser the default browser.

To make Yandex your default browser in Windows 10, see the Yandex.Browser in Windows 10 section.

When installing the browser, I get the error "Not a valid Win32 application"

The installation file was probably not fully downloaded.

Download Yandex.Browser again.

Delete

  1. Close all browser windows.
  2. Open the Control panel.
  3. Go to Programs → Programs and Features → Uninstall a program.
  4. In the Uninstall or change program window, select the Yandex program.
  5. Click the Uninstall button at the top of the list.
  6. Click Delete in the dialog box that opens.
  7. Click Delete browser.

Your information and settings will only be deleted from your local computer. If you synced your devices, most of your profile data will be saved on the Yandex server. After you reinstall the browser and sync it with the server, your data and settings will be restored. If you don't want your data to be restored, delete it from the server.

Reinstall

Note. You do not need to reinstall your browser in order to update it; it updates automatically.
While saving your profile information

To reinstall the browser so that all your profile information including your tabs, site permissions, and sessions are saved:

  1. Close all browser windows.
  2. Open the Control panel.
  3. Go to Programs → Programs and Features → Uninstall a program.
  4. In the Uninstall or change program window, select the Yandex program.
  5. Click the Uninstall button at the top of the list.
  6. In the dialog box that opens, click Delete, but do not select the Delete browser settings, browser history, and other data? option.
  7. Click Delete browser.
  8. Install the browser again.
Without saving profile data
  1. Close all browser windows.
  2. Open the Control panel.
  3. Go to Programs → Programs and Features → Uninstall a program.
  4. In the Uninstall or change program window, select the Yandex program.
  5. Click the Uninstall button at the top of the list.
  6. Click Reinstall in the dialog box that opens.
  7. Click Reinstall the browser.

All your profile data will be deleted from your computer during the reinstallation process. However, if you synced your devices, most of your profile data will be saved on the Yandex server. This data will be restored after syncing. If you don't want your data to be restored, delete it from the server.
