Browser freezes

If the browser freezes, contact us via form. Describe your situation in as much detail as possible:

  • What actions cause the browser to freeze?
  • Describe what happened before the browser stopped responding. For example, did you reinstall the browser, update or install programs or extensions?

If this doesn't help, contact support:

  • Does the problem occur with all web pages or only certain ones? If so, which ones?
  • If you have problems opening pages, include the error text in your message.

Browser crashes

Update Yandex Browser to the latest version.

If the problem persists, contact us via form. Describe your situation in as much detail as possible:

  • What actions cause the browser to close?
  • On which sites does the browser close most often?
  • What happens when you try to open it again? (For example, you get an error message or the window doesn't open correctly)

If possible, attach a screenshot or a video of the error when the browser closes and a screenshot of the browser://crashes page.

Browser takes too long to start

If the browser takes a long time to start, try clearing the browser cache and temporarily disable extensions.

Clear the cache
  1. Tap   → Settings.
  2. Go to the Privacy section.
  3. Tap Clear data.
  4. Select Cache.
  5. Deselect all other options (if you only want to delete the browser cache).
  6. Tap Clear data.
  7. Confirm deletion.
Turn off extensions
  1. Tap   → Extensions in the open tab.
  2. You'll see a list of browser extensions that you have installed. Tap More extensions under the list.
  3. Disable all extensions.

Browser takes up a lot of space

Check how much space the browser cache takes up. To do this:

Note. Mobile device manufacturers may change the Android interface. The instructions are for Androids without modifications.
  1. Open your device settings.
  2. Tap Apps → All apps.
  3. Select Yandex Browser → Memory.

If Data take up more than 200 MB, clear the browser cache:

  1. Tap   → Settings.
  2. Go to the Privacy section.
  3. Tap Clear data.
  4. Select Cache.
  5. Deselect all other options (if you only want to delete the browser cache).
  6. Tap Clear data.
  7. Confirm deletion.

Site content doesn't display correctly

Web pages might display incorrectly. For example, the page displays garbled characters instead of letters, or the formatting may be broken. You may also run across buttons that don't work, links that don't open, or disappearing menus.

Try refreshing the page, then clear the browser cache.

Clear the cache
  1. Tap   → Settings.
  2. Go to the Privacy section.
  3. Tap Clear data.
  4. Select Cache.
  5. Deselect all other options (if you only want to delete the browser cache).
  6. Tap Clear data.
  7. Confirm deletion.

Audio is lagging or takes a long time to load

If the audio file takes a long time to load, try clearing the browser cache. To do this:

  1. Tap   → Settings.
  2. Go to the Privacy section.
  3. Tap Clear data.
  4. Select Cache.
  5. Deselect all other options (if you only want to delete the browser cache).
  6. Tap Clear data.
  7. Confirm deletion.

Video is lagging or low quality

The sound is ahead of the video, or a black screen is displayed instead of the video.

Try temporarily disabling extensions and power saving mode, then clear the cache and cookies. Check whether you transferred your browser cache to a memory card. If you did, move it back.

Clear the cache
  1. Tap   → Settings.
  2. Go to the Privacy section.
  3. Tap Clear data.
  4. Select Cache.
  5. Deselect all other options (if you only want to delete the browser cache).
  6. Tap Clear data.
  7. Confirm deletion.
Turn off extensions
  1. Tap   → Extensions in the open tab.
  2. Find the extension in the list and set the toggle to On. / Off.
Disable power saving
For the current session
  1. Tap the icon in the browser.
  2. Turn off the Power saving option.
Tip. You can disable display of the saved charge in the browser menu. To do this, tap Power saving mode in settings and disable the Show widget in menu option.
Continuously
  1. Tap   → Settings.
  2. Tap Power saving mode.
  3. In Power-saving settings, drag the slider left to Off.
Delete cookies
  1. Tap   → Settings.
  2. Go to the Privacy section.
  3. Tap Clear data.
  4. Select Website data.
  5. Deselect all other options (if you only want to delete cookies).
  6. Tap Clear data.
  7. Confirm deletion.

The quality of video playback usually depends on your internet connection speed.

Why is Turbo mode not available?

Yandex Browser used Turbo mode to speed up access to various sites, but it only worked over the HTTP protocol. There are very few such sites left now, so we turned off Turbo mode in Yandex Browser and removed it from settings. We introduced other mechanisms to keep Yandex Browser fast without using special modes and will continue to further improve its speed.
