Permissions

During the installation process, Yandex Browser for Mobile will ask you for some permissions and accesses that the app requires to function properly.

Microphone access

Required for voice search and talking to Alice.

If you refused to give the browser access to the microphone during installation, you can do it later:

  1. Open your tablet settings.
  2. Tap Apps & notifications → App permissions → See all apps.
  3. In the list of apps, select Yandex Browser.
  4. Tap Permissions.
  5. Enable the Microphone option.

Access the camera

Required for image search.

If you refused to give the browser access to the camera during installation, you can do it later:

  3. In the list of apps, select Yandex Browser.
  4. Tap Permissions.

Location

Your location is used in the following cases:

  • Sites can show you the most relevant information (for example, the local weather, traffic info, or a map).
  • The SmartBox shows more accurate search suggestions (for example, about the weather).
  • Settings show a list of search engines used in your region.
  • The Tableau displays a default collection of sites for your region.

If you refused to give the browser access to your location during installation, you can do it later:

  2. Tap Apps & notifications → App permissions → See all apps.
  3. In the list of apps, select Yandex Browser.
  4. Tap Permissions.
