# Translate
Yandex Browser for Mobile automatically detects the language of the loaded page and can translate it into another language of your choice. The translator can recognize text in images and show the translation on top of the original text.
## Yandex Translate windows

In this mode, you can translate text, images, or a website page directly on the current tab.
- Tab
In this mode, Yandex Translate opens in a separate tab.
Use one of the following methods to open it:
- Tap  → .
- On the bottom panel, tap . Under Tableau, select **Translation**.
If there is no **Translate** button, check if this option is enabled in the settings:

1. In the **Cards on the Home screen** section, enable the **Neural tools** option.
**History**
- To view the translation history, tap  → **History**.
- To delete a translation from history, swipe it to the left and tap .

To translate a page from a foreign language to Russian, tap  → **Translate page**.

1. Use one of the following methods:
- Tap  → .
- On the bottom panel, tap . Under Tableau, select **Translation**.
Yandex Translate will open in a new tab.
1. Enter the website URL in the input line.
1. Above the input line, select the translation language → tap . Yandex Translate will provide the result as a link.
1. Tap the link to open the translated site in a new tab.

## Words and phrases
1. Use one of the following methods to open Yandex Translate:
- Tap  → .
- On the bottom panel, tap . Under Tableau, select **Translation**.
Yandex Translate will open in a new tab.
1. Enter a word or phrase in the input line.
1. Above the input line, select the language to translate into → tap .
The window will display the translation of the word with synonyms and examples of use. Select an action:
- To select another language to translate to, tap  above the image.
- To voice the translated word, tap .
- To copy the translation, tap .
- To rate the translation, tap  or .
## Translate images{#pictures}

**One image**
1. Tap and hold the image.
1. In the context menu, select **Translate image**. The translation appears on top of the original image.

Image text can't be translated if:
- The image isn't clear enough.
- The text is handwritten or cursive.
- The image is too small.

Translate the page and tap **Translate images** on the translation bar.
To see the original text in images, tap  . To see the page and the images in their original language, tap  on the translation bar.

You can also translate images that are not part of a page. You can translate a photo or image from a device in tab mode or in [Yandex Images](https://yandex.com/support/images/translate.html).

1. Tap to upload an image from your device.
1. Above the input line, select the translation language → tap .
The window will display the image with the translation over the original text. Select an action:
- To select another language to translate to, tap  above the image.
- To save the translated image, tap .
- To rate the translation, tap  or .

### Translate subtitles{#setting-videos}

Yandex provides subtitles for videos on a number of hosting sites, including Coursera, VK, YouTube, Twitch, Vimeo, and 9GAG.

Yandex Browser supports subtitles for all videos that it can translate. To enable and configure subtitles:

1. In the video, tap .
1. To configure subtitles, tap  and select:
- **Language**: Select the original or target language. If the video already has subtitles, you can select the service's subtitles instead of Yandex ones.
- **Highlight words**: The words that are currently being spoken are highlighted. The option is only available for Yandex subtitles in the original language.

To look up the translation of a word in the subtitles, simply click it. The video will pause, and the translation of the word and phrase will appear in a pop-up window. To continue watching, click anywhere inside the video window.

1. Tap  →  → **Yandex Translate**.
1. If you're watching a video in fullscreen mode or on top of other apps (picture-in-picture), subtitles aren't available. To [enable](#ol-subtls-on) and configure subtitles, return to normal mode. Then you can reopen the video in fullscreen or on top of apps.

Next to the translation icon, tap .

Enable **Subtitles**.
1. In **Language**, select the video's original language. If the platform has its own subtitles, you can also select them.
