A widget is a small block on the home screen of your smartphone that gives you quick access to Yandex services, the weather forecast, and other information.

Widget types

1x1 widget (Alice)

This widget is a button that activates Alice. No settings.

4x1 widget (search bar)

This widget is a search bar with a button to activate Alice. No settings.

You can also add a search bar to the notification bar. For installation instructions, see SmartBox.

4x3 widget

This widget gives you quick access to Yandex.Search and the voice assistant Alice. It also has informers that show you the date and time, the temperature outside, traffic levels, and battery charge.

You can change the widget size, add new informers, or rearrange them. To learn how to change widget settings, see Android widget in Help.

4x4 widget

There are two versions of this widget. It provides quick access to Yandex.Search, has information about the temperature outside, and may also contain useful informers.

Add to the screen

  1. On the home screen of your smartphone, tap and hold any empty space.
  2. Tap Widgets.
  3. In the widget list, choose Browser.
  4. Pick a Yandex widget in the thumbnail list and drag it to a free area on the screen.

Remove a widget from the screen

  1. Tap and hold the widget.
  2. Tap Delete.
  3. Confirm deletion.

Why do I have multiple identical widgets?

Widgets are built into many Yandex mobile apps, like and . A widget can also be installed as a separate Android app. Because of that, you may find several identical widgets on your smartphone.

You can remove the widgets you don't want.

Why is a widget not getting updated?

Here are the most common reasons why widgets might not show updated information:

No internet connection

Check if your smartphone is connected to the internet.

Power saving mode is enabled

Power saving mode prevents widgets from updating in background mode.

Go to your smartphone settings and make sure this mode is off, or turn it off. Power saving mode may also turn on automatically when your smartphone battery is low.
