Read books

You can read books in Yandex Browser. Download a book, choose your convenient mode, and start reading.

Supported book formats: EPUB, FB2, and MOBI.

Add a book to the library

Note

To make the function available, update Yandex Browser.

To open the library, tap  → Reader.

Add a book:

To find a book, use the SmartBox or search in the Reader  → Search with Yandex.

After you follow the link to download the file, it's downloaded and added to the All books section.

You can open the book immediately after that. To do this, tap Read on the panel at the bottom of the screen.

Open the downloaded book in the notification bar

  1. Open the notification bar (to open the bar, swipe down from the top of your smartphone screen).

  2. Tap the file name. After opening the file, a notification about it will not be displayed in the bar.

  1. Tap  → Upload from device.

  2. Select the file on your device.

The book will be added to the All books section.

Open

  1. Tap  → Reader.

  2. In All books, tap the book to start reading.

  1. Tap  → Reader.

  2. In the Now reading section, tap the book you want to read. This will open the page where you left off.

Every book has a icon indicating the percentage that you've read.

Open the book in another reading app

  1. Tap and hold the book.

  2. In the menu that appears, tap Open with....

  3. Select a reading app from the list.

Read

To go to the next page, tap the right edge of the screen. To go to the previous page, tap the left edge.

To open settings, tap the center of the screen. In settings mode, you can:

  • : Close the book.

  • : Open the table of contents. Tap the title of the chapter to start reading it.

  • : Change the font size and margins. To change the font size, tap  or . Adjust the text width on the screen by tapping one of the icons.

  • : Listen to the book.

  • Layer 1: Switch to the dark theme. To switch back to the light theme, tap .

  • My books: Open the library.

  • Navigation slider: Jump to the page you need. At the bottom of the screen, drag the slider left or right.

Listen

You can also listen to books in Yandex Browser. You can choose between a female or male voice. To listen to a book:

Method 1

  1. Tap  → Reader.

  2. Tap and hold the book.

  3. In the menu that opens, tap Read aloud.

Method 2

Open the book, tap the center of the screen, and then tap the  icon.

While listening, you can control the narration on the bottom panel:

  • : pause.

  • : resume reading.

  • : skip 10 seconds back.

  • : skip 10 seconds forward.

  • : choose reading speed and voice. If the normal speed doesn't feel right, select fast or very fast reading. You can also select a female or male reader here.

  • : turn off reading. To make the icon appear, first tap .

Delete

Note

If you remove a book from the library, it remains in your device's memory.

  1. Tap  → Reader.

  2. Tap and hold the book.

  3. In the menu that appears, select Remove.
