Protect: blocking dangerous content

Sometimes dangerous elements of infected resources (like banners, scripts, or sidebars) can show up on otherwise safe sites. Yandex.Browser blocks these elements by default. Information on infected and fraudulent websites is taken from a special database compiled by Yandex and our partners.

How blocking works

If the site in question contains elements from infected sites, Yandex.Browser warns you. If you get to the page by clicking the Ignore this warning button, your browser will display the page but block the dangerous elements. The right part of the SmartBox will display the or icon.

You cannot load the blocked content, because it presents a serious risk to your computer. Because the browser only downloads secure elements, the page may be formatted incorrectly.

Disable blocking

Attention! To disable dangerous content blocking, you need to completely disable protection from malicious software and websites in your browser. We do not recommend this.

To disable malware protection:

  1. Click  Settings.
  2. In the lower half of the Settings page, click Show advanced settings.
  3. In the Privacy section, disable the Enable protection from malicious websites and software option.
  4. Restart the browser to apply the changes.
